Formations Corners Defending corners Attacking corners Here the idea is that number 3, or the man in the middle can go around their wall and try and deflect the ball into the goal, but if he misses or is there too late then number 4 who is at the back post can hit it in, with the keeper on the other side of the goal anyway The number 2, after executing the corner, needs to retreat and give support to number 1, in case a lucky rebound gets 2 a free pathway which 1 needs to cover. 4 will also retreat on the other wing while 3 holds back or marks the man who was on the inside of the wall, in this case number 3. Throw-ins Own half When in our own half, number 1 can take the throw ins, while the centerback or a winger/midfielder covers the space ( number 4). The idea here is to have 3 try and squeeze a ball through blue numbers 4 and 3, or a through ball can also work here, although blue 2 would cover the line out of instinct while a central ball would be met by blue 1, which our 2 needs to fight for, and if it rebounds in the direction of our goal, then our 4 intercepts and has space to think where to put the ball next , with their near entire team on the other side of the pitch. While this goes on, number 1 stays a little wide, ready to get a pass if that rebound happens, if it doesn't he retreats and covers the space our 4 was into. Also, if we get lucky enough to get this shape once the rebound happens, our 4 can try and squeeze the ball through blue 3 while our number 2 holds blue 1 back away from the ball, leaving an empty goal to us. Opponents half When we have throw-ins in their half, our number 4, who was covering while the goalkeeper was taking throw-ins, will have to take it, with 3 again on the wing. if we get the positioning right, number 4 would have 3 options to pass to, and if they decide to mark any one of them, the other just gains more space. Defending Throw-ins To be decided.. Kick-off Our kick-off If we’re playing a Diamond, or "Y" formation, this could fit for both of them when it's our kick off. When it's their kick off, we literally go in a Y position. During kick off we’re mainly aiming for zone-marking, as shown.
