QUESTION 1
The force 𝐅 = {6.5𝐢 + 8.7𝐣 + 12.3𝐤} N creates a moment about point O of 𝐌𝟎 =
{−15.5𝐢 + 8.3𝐣 + 2.7𝐤} N. m. Note that the diagram shows 𝐅 and 𝐌𝟎 in an arbitrary position.
a) If the force passes through a point P having an x - coordinate of 1.0 m, determine the y and z
coordinates of the point P.
b) Determine the perpendicular distance d from point O.
c) Determine the direction angles of the resultant moment about point O.
d) Point B is located 1/3 the z component of point P. Find the moment caused by the force F about line
BA.
e) Point A is located 2/5 of the y component of point P. Find the component of the resultant moment
along the AH where H is not shown on the diagram but has coordinates (6,3,8).
