“Everyone is perfect in their own way” or “nobody is perfect, we all have mistakes” is
Something said to everyone alike. Both quotations are seen as opposites but try to push
the same meaning of perfectionism. We will be diving into the meaning, scenarios, and aspect
ratios of perfectionism and insecurities in this report.
PERFECTIONISM AND ITS DEFINITION
Perfectionism. Everyone over-thinks this subject from every aspect of viewpoint. But it’s not
necessary to overthink to such a level. Perfectionism, in psychology, is a broad personality style
characterized by a person's concern with striving for flawlessness and perfection. In simple
terms, perfection is a person’s mindset to strive their actions to the point of no mistake. One
might doubt perfectionism to a hardworking individual though that is not the case at all and
could lead to an unhealthy lifestyle decision.
THE UNDERLYING MEANING
This unhealthy lifestyle decision of perfectionism has mainly sprouted from insecurities.
Insecurity is the uncertainty or anxiety about oneself; lack of confidence. These insecurities are
tiny weeds that may seem small but are the root cause to one's mental health and lifestyle.
Insecurities is an issue the human mentality has been fighting over for the past millions of years.
An example of perfectionism to society and the internet is “that girl”. “That girl” was a trend on
the app “tiktok” a few months ago creating the so-called perfect lifestyle choices. “That girl”
used to work out, have a healthy breakfast, did not procrastinate, has her life sorted out, wakes
up early, ect. As many should know, “that girl” just created problems within people's insecurities
instead of helping them get motivated. Which is a big issue in itself.
Many may simply say “you don't have to be perfect” but in the end words aren't actions. It is not
easy to overcome the insecurity of not being good enough, not being a role model, not being
perfect. It will take months, years and maybe even decades to untangle your ball of insecurities.
Once the yarn has been untangled in a straight line you need not think about perfection anymore.
Every human has their own mistakes and their own mindset to succeed. One might not need to
use another’s mindset to succeed rather to use their own mindset to succeed would benefit their
mentality much more. To only have one life in your body and not knowing what will happen
after your one life is over is an action movie in itself. To be deceased peacefully is the end goal
of most, but not all. Your once in a lifetime opportunities should be taken for the better or for the
worse.
THE CHERRY OF THE DESSERT
Perfectionism is a term normally used by society to show their self-worth. Many flaunt their
ideology of perfection to others for their ego and self-esteem. This has created a pattern of
unhealthy lifestyles suffering from wanting change, wanting perfection without knowing the
sacrifices needed. In the end those who have avoided the clutch of perfectionism have an actual
taste of the “real” world. A world that doesn't need you to be perfect.
