A Raven’s Tale 1.From the picture and title of the passage, I think that the story is about a raven that lived all alone. It bullied other ravens or even people. It looks like a proud raven. 2.The connections between the two stories are that both the storyteller and the raven admired other things that they could not be. They tried hard to be what they could not be. They did not realize they had different abilities from the people or other birds they wanted to be like. In so doing both the author and the raven failed dismally until they both realized that it was okay to be you. I enjoyed the second story more as the moral of the story was more revealed, I could relate. A person should be themselves and not imitate others. We all have our individual gifts. 3. The theme or moral of the story is to be proud of who we are like in the first story, the raven tried to be like an eagle. It took him so much effort and still could not be like an eagle. Wanting to be like an eagle almost killed him, but when he was himself, he was happy and soared. In the second story, after being himself he soared and succeeded and ended up as a program director at one of the first native stations in the country. I have learnt to be myself and use my own gifts. 4. There was a time I envied to be like a friend I had gone to high school with. She had it all and I always thought I was backward. She got everything at a young age. I stuck to my lane, worked hard, now when I look back, I have done well for myself accepting that we are different, and our gifts are different as well. She is doing well, and I believe I am doing well too. 5.The tone in both stories is inspirational and encouraging. The raven wanted to be like an eagle and practiced being like one, when he could not be like an eagle and learnt his lesson when he fell, he learnt to accept who he was and discovered his own gifts. As well in the second story the author imitates other readers of news but when he starts to be himself, he ends up a director showing that working hard at your own gifts is more fulfilling and attainable.
