St. Paul Website and
Calendar
Our Christian liturgical calendar has intersected with the major religious
observances of our fellow Abrahamic faiths this year. On behalf of all the
staff here at St Paul, allow me to say Chag Pesach sameach and Ramadan
mubarak to our Jewish and Islamic families, as we also wish you all a very
Blessed Easter. Let us all pray for one another, that God continues to watch
over St Paul's and keeps us ever in His grace.

CHAPLAIN’S MESSAGE
OSTA
The Chaplain’s Angels have been busy helping out with decorating for
Easter and assisting in our Holy Thursday liturgy. We are so grateful to Mr.
Brennan and his Passion Play Players for their beautiful retelling of the
Passion. The Angels also decorated both the Chapel and the Showcase at
the front entrance of the school. Well done, everyone!

Our Muslim students are planning to attend the final day of prayer for
Ramadan on Friday, April 20. We are all looking forward to visiting the
beautiful Jami Omar mosque again.
Finally, a group of Angels will be off to Faith Mentorship Day with 7/8
students from all our other Catholic schools across the board. They will
play, work and learn about helping others and finding their place in the
world together. It looks like it will be a great day.
I wish our entire community a very happy and blessed Easter season!

SKILLS ONTARIO
Students from St.Paul attended an Ontario Skills competition in Kingston, at
St.Lawrence College on Saturday April 1st. Kathleen Jagonos and
Benjamin Shimwa competed in Film
and Video.
Izzy Wasilka competed at the Skills
Ontario qualifier for welding in
Kingston last weekend. It was an
awesome day and a great learning
experience. Izzy placed fifth out of
ten welders from the region. This is a
great result for her first year
competing. A special thanks to
@cwbgroupwelding and
@cwb_foundation for all their support.
It was a great challenge that the students all
enjoyed and got an opportunity to learn in a
competitive
environment.

FRENCH DEPARTMENT NEWS
Nouvelles du département de français
Concours d’art oratoire
Congratulations to our seven(!) STP high school students who participated
in the board-wide French public speaking contest on Thursday, March 30th.
Some of our students participated in the “traditional” category in which they
presented a topic they had selected and prepared in the form of a 3- 5
minute speech. Their names are: Hailey Clarke (Gr. 9), Elena Gomez (Gr.
10), Alexa Mirville (Gr. 10) and Léonie Christelle Lado Nguedam (Gr.
12). The following St. Paul students participated in the “impromptu”
category whereby the candidates were given only 15 minutes to prepare a
speech on a randomly-selected topic: Meaghan MacIntyre (Gr. 9),
Anne-Victoria Lado (Gr. 11) and Adam Potera (Gr. 11).
All of the students did us
very proud! Bravo, les
élèves!
Special congratulations go
out to Anne-Victoria Lado
and Léonie Christelle
Lado Nguedam who
placed first in their
respective categories!
These two students will
travel to Toronto in May to
represent the OCSB at the
provincial French Public
Speaking competition. Félicitations, les filles!!!
