We are so grateful to Mr. Brennan and his Passion Play Players for their beautiful retelling of the Passion. We are all looking forward to visiting the beautiful Jami Omar mosque again. Finally, a group of Angels will be off to Faith Mentorship Day with 7/8 students from all our other Catholic schools across the board. They will play, work and learn about helping others and finding their place in the world together. It looks like it will be a great day. Lindsay Moore-Chung Chaplain LET’S TALK SCIENCE STEM CELL SYMPOSIUM St. Paul Grade 12 Biology students participated in the Let's Talk Science Stem Cell Symposium at Ottawa University. The students learned about many medical applications for stem cells and were given a tour of a medical research lab to learn about careers in Stem Cell Biology. Kathleen Jagonos and Benjamin Shimwa competed in Film and Video. Izzy Wasilka competed at the Skills Ontario qualifier for welding in Kingston last weekend. It was an awesome day and a great learning experience. Izzy placed fifth out of ten welders from the region. This is a great result for her first year competing. A special thanks to @cwbgroupwelding and @cwb_foundation for all their support. It was a great challenge that the students all enjoyed and got an opportunity to learn in a competitive environment. STP Athletics: STPaulCHSsports FRENCH DEPARTMENT NEWS Nouvelles du département de français Concours d’art oratoire Congratulations to our seven(!) STP high school students who participated in the board-wide French public speaking contest on Thursday, March 30th. Some of our students participated in the “traditional” category in which they presented a topic they had selected and prepared in the form of a 3- 5 minute speech. Their names are: Hailey Clarke (Gr. 9), Elena Gomez (Gr. 10), Alexa Mirville (Gr. 10) and Léonie Christelle Lado Nguedam (Gr. 12). The following St. Paul students participated in the “impromptu” category whereby the candidates were given only 15 minutes to prepare a speech on a randomly-selected topic: Meaghan MacIntyre (Gr. 9), Anne-Victoria Lado (Gr. 11) and Adam Potera (Gr. 11). All of the students did us very proud! Bravo, les élèves! Special congratulations go out to Anne-Victoria Lado and Léonie Christelle Lado Nguedam who placed first in their respective categories! These two students will travel to Toronto in May to represent the OCSB at the provincial French Public Speaking competition. Félicitations, les filles!!! STUDENT SERVICES E-Learning Requirements Ontario students will be required to take two E-learning courses by grade 12 to help support the development of digital literacy and other important transferable skills. The Ministry of Education defines e-learning as online learning credit courses in grades 9-12 that are delivered entirely using the internet and do not require students to be physically present with one another or with their educator in the school. For all other information, including opting out, please refer to the following document.
