Welcome to MAGNETICO, the ultimate close control dribbling training program.
There’s no doubt that dribbling skills, and creative moves are a beautiful and entertaining part of the game, but
when we take a look at the players that complete the most successful dribbles during a match; players such as Messi,
Hazard, Robben, all have something in common.
Instead of using elaborate moves, the best dribblers in the world have mastered the art of keeping the ball as close
to their body as possible while maneuvering around the pitch. When they speed up, the ball speeds up, when they
slow down, the ball slows down and when they change direction the ball also changes direction. It almost looks like
there is a magnet between the ball and their foot.
After practicing this style of dribbling for many years and discovering how effective it was on the pitch, I put together
all of the drills that helped me to improve and created my very own training program, MAGNETICO, and now I’m
sharing it with you. In this seven day training program, you will be challenged to keep close control of the ball while
dribbling in multiple directions, switching speeds, turning sharp corners and exploding forward with the ball. The
20+ drills you will endure are designed to put you through all of the movements you would experience in a match,
to better prepare you for the pitch.
You will be reminded throughout the program to force yourself to take a touch of the ball with every step. This
method of dribbling allows you to move in a way with the ball that keeps it so close to your feet that it feels like an
extension of the body. As you advance through the program and become more comfortable with this dribbling
technique, you’ll start to increase your dribbling speed, while keeping in full control of the ball.
To complete this entire program you will need a ball, a small training space, and a recommended 10 training cones
(other objects that can act as markers provide the same benefit). I have mapped out clear instructions for each drill
with written, video examples and diagrams so you can set up your cones/markers exactly how I have. The
corresponding video links to each drill are all included in this e-book.
This program does not share a hidden secret or tip that will suddenly make you an overnight dribbling machine but
rather the results are determined by the intensity and focus you bring to each day of the program.

The Magnetico
Warm Up
The following warm up should be completed at the start of each day of the
program. This exercise allows you to get hundreds of extra touches with all the
surface areas of both feet to better prepare you for the Magnetico drills. The goal
of the warm up is not to go as fast as possible but instead to ensure your
touches are sharp and precise before increasing the intensity.
On top of this technical warm up, ensure you’re body has fully warmed up
and you have gone through a series of dynamic stretches before proceeding
into the main portion of the training sessions to both prevent injury, and
improve performance.
MAGNETICO WARM UP
Place 7 cones as shown. Starting
at one of the outside cones
weave in and out of the cones,
around the end cone and return.
Repeat until you have completed
the following surface areas of the

DAY ONE
Drill One: Speed Nudges
Place 2 cones/objects to form a
gate around 2 steps apart. Place
an identical gate 15 steps
opposite and start at either gate
with the ball. Dribble from one
gate to the other, taking a touch
of the ball with every step and
stop the ball at the opposite
gate. Turn and repeat.

Drill Two: Speed Weave
Place cones in a similar
formation to the warm up but
with greater distance between
the cones as shown. Starting at
either end, weave through the
cones as fast as possible, using
inside and outside of foot.

Place the cones diagonally as
shown with a cone at either end
of the drill. Starting at one side,
weave diagonally around the
cones. Go around the opposite
end cone and weave back
around the cones to return to the
start.

DAY TWO
Drill Four: Three Point Dribble
Place one cone as a starting
point followed by a cone
diagonally to the right, straight
ahead, and diagonally to the left
as shown. Starting with the ball
at the first cone, dribble out
towards either outside cone,
return to the start, out to the
middle, return to the start, out to
the final cone and return to the
start, stopping the ball.
Reps: 3 right foot, 3 left foot.

Drill Five: The Square

Use 4 cones to create a perfect
square as shown. Starting at any
corner, dribble around the
square, keeping the ball close to
the cones as you turn the corner.
Once you get back to your
starting point, turn sharply and
repeat in the opposite direction
until you get back to the start to
stop the ball.

Using the same cone set up
used in “The Square”, place an
additional cone in the centre of
the box. Start at any corner,
dribble the ball towards the
centre cone, turn either right or
left around the cone and
diagonally out to the next corner.
Dribble straight across to the
next corner of the box, turn
sharply and dribble into the

DAY THREE
Drill Seven: Crosshairs
Place the cones in a crosshairs
pattern as shown. Dribble
towards centre cone, turn 90
degrees, around nearest outside
cone, back to the middle and
repeat until all outside cones
have been dribbled around and
return to the start.
Reps: 3 right foot, 3 left foot.

Drill Eight: The Diamond

diamond shape with the
remaining cones. Starting at any
cone, drill around the outside of
the diamond until you reach your
starting point.

Drill Nine: The W
Create a W shape with the
cones as when. Dribble the
course, turning at every cone
until you reach the final cone.
Dribble around the final cone
and return through the W to
your starting point

DAY FOUR
Drill Ten: The Half Circle
Form a circle with the cones as
shown, with a gate at the bottom
and the top of the circle. Dribble
the ball from one gate to the other,
and cut outside with the foot you
are dribbling with. Follow the circle
curve half way around until you
reach the gate, switch feet, and
repeat.

Drill Eleven: The Circle Dribble
Using the same cone formation
you used for “The Half Circle”, this
time combining the 2 cones on
either side that formed the gates
so you’re left with a perfect circle.
Starting at any cone, dribble
around the outside of the circle
until you reach your starting point.

dribble around the circle, weaving
in and out of the cones using the
inside and outside of both feet.

DAY FIVE
Drill Thirteen: The Pentagon
Using 5 cones, create a pentagon
shape as shown. Starting at any
cone, dribble around the outside of
the pentagon, staying tight to the
cones around each corner until you
return to your starting point.

Drill Fifteen: Shuttle Dribble
Set up 8 cones as shown. Starting
at either of the bottom 2 cones,
dribble diagonally around the next
cone ahead, and dribble back
around the starting cone before
dribbling diagonally around the 3rd
cone on the opposite side, and
back diagonally to the next cone
up each time, finishing at the
opposite cone from where you
started.

bottom gate, dribble to the second
gate, turn, sharply, and return to
the first gate, turn again, dribble to
the final gate, turning a final time
and returning to your starting point.

Drill Sixteen: T Dribble
Form a T shape with 4 cones as
shown. Starting at the bottom of the
T, dribble towards the middle cone
at the top and turn according to the
foot that you are dribbling with. Go
around the outside cone, all the way
across to the opposite side, back to
the middle, and return to the

Drill Seventeen: Upside Down T
Dribble
Using the exact same cone set up
as the “T Dribble”, this time starting
at the centre cone at the top of the
T facing the outside cone, dribble
around the outside cone, all the way
across to the opposite side, back to
the middle, and finish at the bottom
of the T. This time, alternate
direction to use the inside of the
foot around turns.
Reps: 2 right foot, 2 left foot,
alternating direction per rep (10-15
seconds rest between each rep)
Drill Eighteen: The Triangle
Using the same cone set up as the
“Upside Down T Drill”, remove the
middle cone at the top of the T so
that the remaining cones form a
triangle. Starting at any cone,
dribble around the outside of the
triangle and return to your starting
position. Alternate direction with
each repetition to work on using
both the outside and inside of the
foot during the turns.

DAY SEVEN
Drill Nineteen: X Dribble
Use 5 cones to form an X shape.
Starting at either of the bottom
cones of the X, dribble straight
towards the opposite diagonal
cone. Dribble around the opposite
cone and to the middle cone. Turn
at the middle cone in the direction
corresponding to the foot you are
dribbling with (right foot, right turn)
and go around the cone before
dribbling all the way to the opposite
diagonal cone to finish.

as the “X Dribble” start at any cone
around the outside of the X. Dribble

You should be extremely proud of the investment you have made in your journey as a
player. Every touch you took during this program is a touch closer to achieving your goals,
but the hard work doesn’t stop here.
To continue to see improvements, repeat the program and attack it with even more
intensity. If possible, time your drills with a stop watch, and compare times as the weeks
go on to track your improvements. You can also challenge yourself even further by
completing extra sets/reps of each drill.
If you do repeat the program, I would recommend taking notes after each session to write
down what you noticed during your training. Did you make less mistakes this week
compared to last week? Are your touches becoming sharper and more precise when
controlling the ball around the obstacles? Do you find yourself having to look down at the
ball far less than you did previously? This self reflection gives you vital feedback on how
your training is going, and can be a major contributor to your development.
