Have you been setting your goals wrong? Ever tried to set your goals at the start of the year, to forget about them 3 weeks later and barely achieve any of them by the end of the year? Yes, me too. I realised that I had been setting goals completely wrong and so may you. I’ve never enjoyed writing out goals each year, because by the end of the next it was likely that I never achieved them. This made me feel unmotivated and at a loss until I figured out the most important thing... forgetting about the goal and focusing on the system and habits instead. A really great book that I recommend reading is ‘Atomic Habits’ by James Clear. He mentions that: “If you want better results, then forget about setting goals. Focus on your system instead.” In order to set goals we need a solid system in place. With just a written goal you are focusing on the end result, rather than what you need to do in order to achieve this. This is where setting habits comes in. This goal workbook will help you write your goals, follow a clear system and dig deep into figuring out your habits to achieve your goals. Keywords explained Throughout this workbook these following words will be spoken about, so it’s good to fully understand what they mean: Goal: Set the overall direction and goal you want to achieve Habits: Outline of behaviour that is repeated regularly. Doing small habits over a long period of time can help achieve those bigger goals. Pain Points: What may stop you from achieving your goal or completing your habit? Try and figure out what’s going to get in the way. Paint Point Solutions: Once you’ve figured out your pain points, you can try and solve them so if they appear in the future you can refer back to this with the solution. Business & Personal Goals Firstly we need a brain dump session so you can get all of your goals and dreams down onto paper, to then sort through. Split up your business and personal goals below. Business Goals: Goal 1 branding designs Goal 4 consistent trading learning Goal 2 ui/ux design (web and app) Goal 5 Goal 3 interior design Goal 6 Examples of business goals: Increase revenue by 10%, take on 3 clients per month, post consistently on social media, create a course, start a new social media platform, rebrand, learn web design etc. Personal Goals: Goal 1 wake up on time Goal 4 read books Goal 2 eat on time Goal 5 Goal 3 stay hydrated Goal 6 Examples of personal goals: Read more, start a new hobby, get fitter, eat better, start the gym, move out etc. Goal 1: Write one of you goals from your business or personal list here Habits: It’s time to set actions and write some habits. When writing your habit make sure you include the ‘SMART’ rule. Make it; Specific, Measurable, Achievable Relevant, and Time-Bound. So if my goal was to get fitter my habit is to go to the gym on a Monday, Tuesday, Thursday & Friday at 6am and workout for 1 hour each day. By being specific & scheduling out a time adds structure to your habit making it easier to achieve your goal of getting fitter. Habit 1 brand design 5:30pm to 8:30 (all design basics first Habit 3 u Habit 2 trading all markets & stay hydrated 10 to 1pm thursday full time Habit 4 Pain Points: One you’ve figured out your habits for your goal it’s now time to think of the problems you may face. For example with the habit of working out 4 x per week, your schedule may get busy meaning you might miss a day.
