A Detailed Lesson Plan in Mathematics III I. Learning Objectives : At the end of 120 minutes of discussion, the pupils should be able to; A. Analyze the steps in adding similar fractions. B. apply the different steps in adding similar fractions. C. add fractions by Using Number Line II. Subject Matter A. Topic: Addition of Similar Fraction B. Reference: Math Skillbook C. Materials: Manila Paper and Marker III. Pocedure Teacher’s Activity A. The Preliminaries ● Greeting Student’s Activity Good Morning Class! Good Morning, Teacher! ● Prayer Everybody please stand for the prayer. Let us bow our head and feel the presence of our Lord. Amen. B. Motivation (The teacher gave the example of Addition to the student and they tried to answer.) 1. Class, 8+2 =? Very Good! 2. 4+4=? 3. 5+7=? 10, Teacher 8, Teacher 12, Teacher 4. C. 3+6=? Presentation These fractions we will use in our lesson. So listen carefully so we know how to add fractions. D. Discussion So, our topic for today is about Addition of Similar Fractions. Today we will learn how to Add Simlilar Fraction Using Number Line . When we say "similar fractions," these are the fractions that have the same denominator. For example, 1/2 and 3/2 So these fractions have the same denominator. So we can say that 1/2 and 3/2 are both similar fractions. I will show you an example, look at this, class 2/8 + 3/8= First, draw one fraction on the number line. Let start with 2/8. 2/8 means 2 out of 8 parts 9, Teacher Next , look at the second fraction we’re adding. 1/6 means 3 out of 8 parts. Adding 2/8 to 3/8 means you jump forward 1 step from 3/6. 5/8, Ma’am. Class, where we landed? Very Good!, We landed on 5/8. That’s our sum. Let’s have another example; 3/6+1/6 = ? 3 out of 6 parts, teacher. What does 3/6 mean? 1 out of 6 parts How about 1/6? Adding 3/6 to 1/6 means “jumping” forward 1 step from 3/6 We landed on 4/6. That’s our sum. Perfect class!! C.Post Developmental Activities E. Generalization Class, how do you add fractions on a number line? Very good! First, draw one fraction on the number line. To add fractions on a number line, remember these things: 1. The fractions must have the same denominators. 2. Use the number line only to add fractions. 3. Jump forward from the first fraction. The numerator of the fraction you’re adding will tell you the number of steps you need to jump. The number you land on is in the answer. IV. Application Let’s Try! Solve the word problems by adding similar fraction using number line. 1. 2/6 + 3/6 = 2. 4/8 + 3/8 = V. Assignment Answer the following and write it in your assignment notebook. 1. 3/8 + 4/8 = 2. 1/4+2/4 =
