YEAR & COURSE: BCAED 2-B SUBJECT: GELE 102 INSTRUCTOR: Mr. Roland Dave Segovia Answer the following questions: 1. What is the meaning of a good life? ANSWER: Socrates believed that an unexamined life was not worth living. It is pointless to live life without ever reflecting on it. The person who unquestioningly and incessantly repeats the cycle of waking up, working, and sleeping is not living the good life. Furthermore, people who do not ponder the nature of things are not living meaningful lives. Suppose a person does not examine what they value and why their chances of living a good life are reduced. So, for me, Living the good life entails living a life that frees you. A life that satisfies and fulfills you, that brings you happiness, joy, and a sense of purpose. But it also means living a worthwhile life - one that contributes to society rather than being solely self-centered. A good life is not primarily consumed by mundane activities. Rather, it adds value and helps to make the world a better place. Lastly, it contributes to your personal development. Achieving a high standard of living alone may not be fully satisfying and will most certainly not set you free. 2. Does free will exist, or it is every action predetermined? ANSWER: 3. Do guns protect people or kill people? ANSWER: Consider how many people are killed by guns each year, both on purpose and by accident, especially during PRRD's tenure. People, not guns, are the ones who kill. People protect themselves, not firearms. People kill with guns, but people kill with people. In our current situation, guns are not used to protect people because they are used to kill people, whether they are criminals or innocent. 4. Why do people strive for perfection if it is not attainable? ANSWER: It gives us a goal to work toward. Without it, there is no guiding principle to motivate us to get better and no example on which to model our behavior. This doesn't mean there is only one way to succeed; rather, it means that the idea of perfection inspires us to forge our paths in life. Although it would be impossible to characterize my efforts as "perfect," aiming for it has given me something to aim for. Perfection can be a driving force for development and improvement.
