1. What is the performance
level on vocabulary skills of
Grade IV learners based from
the PHIL-IRI Assessment for
school year 2018-2019?
2. What is the acceptability

Survey form of questionnaire
in a 5 likert - scale will be
employed to determine the
acceptability level of the
intervention implemented. The
mean and standard deviation
for both pre-test and post test
result will gathered and

(DIRECTS) Project
This research will focus on
Overcoming Challenges and
Cultivating Performance of
Grade VI pupils in Science in
Huyonhuyon Elementary
school. Specifically it sought
to answer the following
problems:
What is the performance level
of Grade VI pupils in science
based from 1st Quarter and 2nd
quarter summative
assessment for the school
year 2021-2022?
This action research will
employ descriptive method of
research in discussing the
answers of the three research
questions. Other components
of this part are the research
participants and other sources
of data information, data
gathering method and data
analysis plan per research
question.
What is the acceptability level
of interventions and
collaborative techniques and
strategies used?
What are the significant
effects of the interventions,
techniques and strategies
implemented on the
performance of the pupils in
science modular distance
learning?

For question number 1, the
result of 1st and 2nd quarter
summative assessment in
science will be collected and
the data obtained will be
tabulated and interpreted
using the mean percentage.
For question number 2, the
acceptability level of the
intervention conducted, a set
of questionnaire will be
applied. Survey form of
questionnaire in a 5 likert scale will be employed to
determine the acceptability
level of the intervention
implemented. The mean and
standard deviation for both
pre-test and post test result
will be gathered and
computed.
For question number 3, the
data will be obtained from the
mean percentage of post- test
result and the average of the
mean percentage of 1st
quarter and 2nd quarter
summative assessment to
determine the improvement on
the academic performance or
the performance level of
learners in science applying
the different innovations,
interventions, strategies and
techniques stated in this
action-research proposal.

Lesson 3
1. How did you select your topics for action research?
ans.: I selected my topics for my action research by identifying first the different problems encountered in the learning
situations at present that affects educational achievement and holistic development of my learners. I focused only in one
subject to be specific and to be more focused on the problems identified. Next is the formulation of the title of the project
that I would like to implement to achieve the desired outcomes at the end of my action research.
2. What prompted you to embark on these topics?
ans: The different challenges and problems amidst this pandemic that I have encountered as well as by my students and
the parents especially in the modular distance learning modality implemented by the Department of Education were the
factors that prompted me to embark on these topics.
3. How did you select the questions for your action research?
ans: Of course, the questions that I formulated are related or anchored to the topics that I have chosen, to the Project that I
have been implemented all throughout the research and to the desired outcomes or output after the actions were done.
4. How long did you conduct your action research ?
ans: I have been conducting my research for one year since the needed data are the pre-test and the post-test in science 6
as well as the summative tests results for the first and second grading after the different innovations and strategies are
being applied to get the desired outcome of the research.
5. What challenges and problems did you encounter while conducting your actions research?
ans: The challenges and problems that I have encountered are the following:
a. Formulation of research title which needs to be unique and interesting based on the current problems encountered in the
delivery of instruction.
b. Management of time especially in conducting home visitation to provide assistance/instruction for them to develop their
study habits, to gain better understanding of the concepts and to monitor their progress in accomplishing the tasks stated in
science module.
c. Crafting of the contextualized modules based on the interests, needs, and the capabilities of the students.
d. Crafting of other materials based from the proposed alternative interventions and innovations stated in the research
proposal.
e. Implementation of the projects and strategies to the pupils, gathering of data, interpretation of data, and the formulations
of conclusion and the recommendations.

1. Do the topics reflects the educational issues and problems encountered in schools?
ans: YES
2. Are the research questions aligned with the research topics?
ans: YES
3. What could be done to help teachers improve topics selection and development of good research question?
ans: The school administration can sponsor a seminar to the teachers discussing the nature of action-research especially
in the improvement of topics selection and development of good research question. Administrator may provide sufficient
and consistent opportunities in the school for collaborative action research; build a support system for teachers through a
coach or a knowledgeable persons; create a library for action-research housing professional literature, assessment tools
and other instructional resources for action-research; plan several sharing sessions for faculty to present their action
research and findings throughout the year and encourage more the faculty to conduct Action-research in the school.
