Pointillism Assignment Outline Grade 6 Background: Most of us are familiar with landscape paintings, but some may not be aware of Pointillist landscapes. Goal: Students will learn about several artists in the group of 7 and focus on pointillism. Students will put their understanding into practice, by creating their own landscape using a pointillism effect. Objectives: – Students will learn about the Pointillist style, along with artists involved – Students will analyze example paintings by the group of 7. – Students will recognize the difference between realism and pointillism – Students will create a landscape using a stippling technique – Students will participate in a final critique about their landscape Requirements: Students must research a geographic landscape from one of the group of 7. They will find an image that they would like to replicate. Materials: - paint - qtips - white poster paper - pencil - eraser - one landscape picture (from one of the members of the group of 7) Instructions: Find and save an image of a landscape of your choice by a member of the Group of 7.Using one design from the Famous, "Group of 7," you will be RE-CREATING a painting using the style of pointillism.
