First of all, we must recognise prayer as a privilege as well as an honour. Every moment of prayer is an investment in eternity and true prayer is a romance of righteousness. Our fellowship is with the Father and with His Son Jesus Christ. Through prayer we participate in the communion of the God-kind; it’s a throne-room caucus rendezvous: Jesus made it so! Oh, that the eyes of our understanding may be enlightened to see this awesome truth and that we may walk in the light of it! What a time of rich communion with the Lord prayer provides us!” - Culled from “How To Pray Effectively, Volume 1.” 5 “FIRST OF ALL...” (Pray For All People And Wage A Good Wafare) TO THE BIBLE Saturday 1 Timothy 2:1 AMPC “First of all, then, I admonish and urge that petitions, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be offered on behalf of all men” LET’S TALK “P astor John, why do you always start out praying for all people, especially the leaders in our nation, before making any other request? Is that prayer for all people so necessary?” Adrian quizzed. “Yes it is, Adrian! That’s how the Bible teaches us to pray. We’re instructed to pray “first of all” for all men. 1 Timothy 2:1-2 communicates very clearly what our priority should be when we pray. But when you read this portion in context, you would appreciate even better the reason for this divine instruction. In the previous chapter, Paul had written, “This charge I commit to you, son Timothy, according to the prophecies previously made concerning you, that by them you may wage the good warfare” (1 Timothy 1:18). He then went on to give the charge in 1 Timothy 2:1 and stated, “Therefore, I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men.” So we see that he was actually showing Timothy how to wage a good warfare. “First of all” here means you start by praying, not for your personal requests, but for all men. This is important in waging a good warfare. For a long time, a lot of God’s people weren’t praying with this in mind. They were more concerned about personal agendas and what they wanted from God, and the adversary took advantage of this 6 1 to wreak havoc in different nations. But thank God the Church is now awake to her responsibilities and acting on the Word, praying first for all men. You’ve been called to war a good warfare, and the instruction is clear. He says, “First of all,” meaning before you pray for other things—your family, academics, or finances— pray for all people! This is such an important foundational teaching for the Church. As we lead souls to Christ and bring them to Church, we ought to let them know they have an enemy whose goal it is to destroy them. We must teach them to pray as soldiers, not for their personal needs, but for all men as Scripture instructs. Go Deeper Pray Ephesians 6:18; 1 Timothy 2:1-4 Dear Father, thank you for pouring out your Spirit on all flesh all over the world so your truth may be effectively known by all men. I pray for as many as will be reached with the Gospel today, that the light of the Gospel will shine in their hearts, resulting in their salvation. Thank you for this grace, in Jesus’ Name. Amen. My Notes 7 QUENCH EVERY FIERY MISSILE (Satan’s Darts Are No Match For Your Faith) TO THE BIBLE Sunday, Ephesians 6:13 AMPC “Therefore put on God’s complete armor, that you may be able to resist and stand your ground on the evil day [of danger], and, having done all [the crisis demands], to stand [firmly in your place].” LET’S TALK W hen you study and meditate on each part of the armour of God in Ephesians 6, you’ll discover that the description of what we’re supposed to wear reveals how satan fights. From the war paraphernalia given to you by God, you can decipher what weapons the enemy uses. For instance, Ephesians 6:14-17 says, “Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. And take the helmet of salvation….” Notice what it says about faith: with it, you can quench all of satan’s fiery darts. That tells us what kind of material his missiles are: they all have to do with making you accept or believe something against God and His Word. These may be fiery darts of discouragement, depression, fear, failure, or sickness; all aimed at making you take a stand against God’s Word. Thankfully, the Bible says, “…taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one” (Ephesians 8 2 6:16). With your faith, you can put out, not some, but all of the fiery missiles of the wicked one. Your faith is your shield. Take up your faith! Don’t give it up. Someone said, “I was actually acting in faith but when things went wrong, I gave up.” No! Don’t drop your faith; the missiles directed at you from demonic forces can only be neutralised by faith. The Bible says, “...Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God” (Romans 10:17). The more of God’s Word that comes into your spirit, the more faith you get and the more you use your faith, the more it’s strengthened. And when the devil throws his missiles, you’ll be unmoved because they’ll be disintegrated by your shield of faith. Go Deeper 1 John 5:4; 1 Corinthians 16:13; Romans 4:19-20 Speak My faith is a weapon of defense and an instrument of victory over and against the adversary and adversities of life. With it, I put out all the fiery missiles of the wicked one. The Word of God has taken full possession of my spirit, soul and body. My Notes 9 WHO ARE THE FALSE PROPHETS? (You’ve Overcome The Antichrist Spirit In The World) TO THE BIBLE Monday, 1 John 4:1 AMPC “Beloved, do not put faith in every spirit, but prove (test) the spirits to discover whether they proceed from God; for many false prophets have gone forth into the world.” LET’S TALK W hen the Apostle John speaks of “false prophets,” he’s referring to “professors of deception” who’ve been inspired by demons to influence, deceive and sway the world in these end times. That’s why John says to test the spirits out there. As you read further in context into the second and third verses, you’d notice John wasn’t talking about the “antichrist” himself—who’s also called “the beast,” “the man of lawlessness,” or “the man of sin”— but the antichrist spirit behind his activities. This antichrist spirit has been in the world ever since John’s day. Thankfully, through God’s Word and Spirit, we’re able to discern his activities and those of his false prophets and messengers. And as the Word declares, we’ve overcome them all: 1 John 4:4 says, “You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world..” In the 5th and 6th verses, he continues, “They are of the world. Therefore they speak as of the world, and the world hears them. We are of God. He who knows God hears us; he who is not of God does not hear us. By this we know the spirit of truth and the spirit of error” (1 John 4:5-6). Walk 10 3 in God’s truth and be spiritually alert, and you’ll be shielded against preachers of pseudo-science and the lies and deceit that they propagate. Remember, truth is in your spirit, because the Holy Spirit—the Spirit of truth—lives in you. 2 John 1:2 says, “… the truth which abides in us and will be with us forever:” God’s truth protects you, delivers and saves you from trouble. Psalm 91:4 says, “…his truth shall be thy shield and buckler.” Glory to God! Go Deeper 2 Peter 2:1 AMPC; 1 John 2:18-20 Pray Dear Father, thank you for your Word by which I navigate my way through life. He was quite startled, and he asked me, “Where did you get that revelation from?” When I showed it to him from the Epistles, he was amazed. He had never known it, having never majored on the Epistles. A good number of God’s people today have never majored on the Epistles. In fact, some of them see the Epistles only as letters to the churches, but they’re more than just letters. In the same way, some people see the gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John as mere historical books of the New Testament. No! They’re the revelation of the man, Christ Jesus. When you study the gospels, you’ll come to the conclusion that Jesus is alive. His words are as alive today as they were back then when He spoke them. That’s not history. Matthew, Mark, Luke and John are the revelation of the Head of the Church. The Epistles, on the other hand, are the revelation of the Body of Christ. Hallelujah! This refers to us: the new creation, the Christians, the ones that are born again. When you study the Epistles, you discover you. For 12 4 instance, there’s not a single place in the Epistles where the Christian is asked to have faith. Rather, they let you know that you already have faith: “…think of yourself with sober judgment, in accordance with the faith God has distributed to each of you” (Romans 12:3 NIV). This is a true picture of who you are; you’re a young man or woman of faith! The Epistles are the album of the new creation. Hallelujah! Go Deeper 2 Corinthians 3:18 NIV; 2 Corinthians 3:2-3 Speak I’m the epistle of Christ, the effulgence of His glory, the manifestation of His goodness and righteousness. My Notes 13 “LIKE A THIEF IN THE NIGHT” (The Lord’s Return Won’t Catch Us By Surprise) TO THE BIBLE Wednesday, 1 Thessalonians 5:1-2 NIV “Now, brothers and sisters, about times and dates we do not need to write to you, for you know very well that the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night.” LET’S TALK “J esus will come like a thief in the night to take the true believers home.” These were words Keshia often heard as a child, and they stuck in her mind and caused her some anxiety growing up until she studied and received more light on the subject. Just like Keisha, the expression “like a thief in the night” has troubled many Christians over the years. They imagine that if they do something wrong just before bedtime, and Jesus comes like a thief in the night, they won’t go with Him. However, that’s not what this means! Looking at the opening verse closely, you’ll observe whom Paul was addressing. He said, “…Brothers and sisters, about times and dates we do not need to write to you…” meaning his brothers and sisters in Christ. Verse 3 shows something really important: “For when they say, “Peace and safety!” then sudden destruction comes upon them, as labor pains upon a pregnant woman. And they shall not escape” (1 Thessalonians 5:3). This obviously wasn’t referring to Paul’s brothers and sisters in Christ, because he said: “For when they say….” “They” refers to the world; those who aren’t in Christ, described in Scripture as children of disobedience, appointed to God’s wrath (Ephesians 2:2; 14 5 Colossians 3:6). On the other hand, for those who are born again, the Bible says, “…You, brothers and sisters, are not in darkness so that this day should surprise you like a thief” (1 Thessalonians 5:4 NIV). Every place where the Lord Jesus talked about coming suddenly upon people, it had to do with judgement, and He never referred to the Church. In John 5:24, He says, “I speak to you an eternal truth: if you embrace my message and believe in the One who sent me, you will never face condemnation, for in me, you have already passed from the realm of death into the realm of eternal life!” (TPT). You’re a child of light and of the day; you’re neither of the night nor of darkness (1 Thessalonians 5:5)! Therefore, serve the Lord with peace and joy in your heart, and in full expectation of His soon return. Go Deeper Ephesians 5:8; Revelation 3:10; 1 Thessalonians 5:5 Speak I’m a child of light and of the day; I serve the Lord with joy and in expectation of His soon return. My Notes 15 THE MANNER OF GOD’S KINGDOM (The Way Of Life In The Kingdom Of God) TO THE BIBLE Thursday, Colossians 1:13 CEV “God rescued us from the dark power of Satan and brought us into the kingdom of his dear Son” LET’S TALK 1 Samuel tells us how the children of Israel asked for a king. Eventually, God gave them Saul to be their king, and straightaway, Israel became a kingdom. Samuel knew kingdoms don’t function like every other society, and so the Bible says he “…told the people the manner of the kingdom, and wrote it in a book, and laid it up before the Lord...” (1 Samuel 10:25 KJV). He told the people “the manner of the kingdom.” What does this mean? As you study several translations, you’ll discover that he taught them the principles, rights, privileges, judgments and ways of life of the kingdom. He had to write how the kingdom functioned and delivered it to the people. This is exactly what the Lord Jesus did. He came preaching the Kingdom of God and, every now and then, He explained how the Kingdom functioned. Often, He’d say, “The Kingdom of Heaven is as this or that.” Other times, He taught the importance of words and prayer in the Kingdom. Now that you’re born again, you’ve been born into the Kingdom of God’s dear Son, and you live and walk in His presence. Knowing this, you need to learn how to live in this real Kingdom, and the Scriptures can help you understand how to do this through the power of the Holy Spirit. Paul 16 6 writing to Timothy said: “…I write so that you may know how you ought to conduct yourself in the house of God…” (1 Timothy 3:15). This means there’s a way to behave oneself in the house of God. Christianity isn’t a way of life, but it has a way of life. In this Kingdom, there’s a language; we have our communication and etiquette. We think differently. Now that you’re in the Kingdom of God, you shouldn’t think or behave like the world. The Bible says, “Do not lie to one another, since you have put off the old man with his deeds, and have put on the new man who is renewed in knowledge according to the image of Him who created him” (Colossians 3:9-10). There’s a different mentality in the Kingdom, and a different way of life that you must consciously imbibe. Go Deeper 1 Timothy 3:14-15; Colossians 3:1-2 Speak I have the life and nature of God in me; I’ve put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness. (The Description Of The New Creature In Christ) TO THE BIBLE Friday, 2 Corinthians 5:17 “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.“ LET’S TALK “A new creation” in today’s opening verse is better rendered in the King James as “a new creature.” Why? It’s because the emphasis isn’t on the creation of the new man in Christ; rather, it’s on the being; he’s a new creature, a new species that never existed before. It’s like seeing a strange animal pass by and you wonder, “What kind of creature was that? You couldn’t really make out what it was; it wasn’t like anything you’ve ever seen. That’s what it is when a person is born again. Recall the words of Jesus in John 3:8 as He discussed the new birth. He said, “The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear the sound of it, but cannot tell where it comes from and where it goes. So is everyone who is born of the Spirit.” You’re a different type of being. Something actually transpired in the realm of the spirit when you were born again: your human life with which you came from your mother and father was supplanted by the divine life: “I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life” (1 John 5:13 NIV). This is the reality. It’s an actual birth, a true recreation of the human spirit. 18 7 The Bible says, “Of His own will He brought us forth by the word of truth, that we might be a kind of firstfruits of His creatures” (James 1:18). “Firstfruits” means “the first and best.” Titus 3:5 says, “Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit.” Colossians 3:10-11 describes this new creature as renewed in knowledge after the image of God that created him. See yourself the way God sees you. You’re peculiar, royal, excellent and full of glory. You’re the only one of you that God has ever had and will ever have. My Notes 19 DID YOU KNOW? 7 FUN FACTS ABOUT JESUS Let’s look at seven interesting facts about our Lord Jesus Christ. Did you know…. 1. King David composed a graphic portrayal of the crucifixion of Jesus Christ about 1,000 years before it happened? While He hung on the cross, Jesus even quoted the first verse of Psalm 22, alluding to the fact that His suffering had been prophesied long ago. At the time David wrote that Psalm, crucifixion hadn’t yet been invented! 2. Isaiah also prophesied incredibly specific details about the life, suffering, death, burial and resurrection of Jesus about 700 years in advance? Just check out Isaiah 53. 3. There are more than 300 prophecies about the Messiah in the Old Testament scriptures that were fulfilled by Jesus Christ? 20 They include Deuteronomy 18:15, Psalm 24:7-10, Isaiah 7:14, Isaiah 9:6-7, Isaiah 53, Ezekiel 37:26-27, Jeremiah 31:15, Daniel 9:25-26, Micah 5:2, Zechariah 9:9 etc. 4. The Bible does not say how many wise men came to see Jesus? The traditional number of three came about because three gifts are mentioned. Read Matthew 2. 5. The name “Jesus” was given to Mary by an angel of God called Gabriel (Luke 1:26-31)? He also told Joseph that Mary was pregnant by the power of the Holy Spirit. Joseph was going to divorce Mary, but the angel told him not to do this, and to name the child “Jesus.” 6. “Christ” isn’t Jesus’ surname? We hear “Jesus Christ” so often that it’s easy to think “Christ” is His surname, but it’s not. In first-century Palestine, people didn’t have last names but were identified by referencing their parents. For example, talking about Jesus, they said, ‘Is this not Jesus, the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we know?” (John 6:42). Christ comes from the Greek “Christos,” which means “anointed one.” 7. Jesus had several siblings? His four (4) brothers’ names were given as James, Joseph, Judas and Simon. His sisters’ names and their number were however not given in the Bible. 21 ABSTAIN FROM THE ACT (Take A Stand In His Word) TO THE BIBLE Saturday, 1 Timothy 1:8-11 NIV 8 “We know that the law is good if one uses it properly. We also know that the law is made not for the righteous but for lawbreakers and rebels, the ungodly and sinful, the unholy and irreligious, for those who kill their fathers or mothers, for murderers, for the sexually immoral, for those practicing homosexuality, for slave traders and liars and perjurers—and for whatever else is contrary to the sound doctrine that conforms to the gospel concerning the glory of the blessed God, which he entrusted to me.” LET’S TALK A s Christians, we must stand on God’s Word and not go with the world and its secular or political opinions. The Bible says, “Do not love or cherish the world or the things that are in the world. If anyone loves the world, love for the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world—the lust of the flesh [craving for sensual gratification] and the lust of the eyes [greedy longings of the mind] and the pride of life [assurance in one’s own resources or in the stability of earthly things]—these do not come from the Father but are from the world [itself]” (1 John 2:15-16 AMPC). For example, homosexuality is not a newfangled concept as many think; it dates back to Bible days, as far back as the book of Genesis! The Bible clearly condemns it (1 Corinthians 6:9), and that’s one of the reasons they’re trying to get rid of the Bible in some parts of the world. But that’s never going to happen. There’re even so- 22 called “ministers” who profess to be gay and have become advocates. Satan’s plan is to make sure that you’re vexed to compromise but be smart. In spite of all his shenanigans, you must stick to God’s Word. In John 14:15 AMPC, Jesus said, “If you [really] love Me, you will keep (obey) My commands.” The proof of your love for Him is keeping His Word, and His Word adjures you to abstain from the act. Go Deeper 1 Timothy 1:9-11; Romans 1:26-32 Pray Dear Father, thank you for the Holy Spirit who guides me in the way of righteousness and true holiness. I’m forever established in your Word. I pray for those whose minds have been blinded, that the influence of the devil is broken in their lives, and that henceforth, their hearts are open to receive your love for them, and be translated from darkness into the glorious liberty of the sons of God, in Jesus’ Name. My Notes 23 HIS ROBE DIPPED IN BLOOD (His Blood: An Irrefutable Proof Of Purchase) Sunday, TO THE BIBLE Revelation 19:11-13 MSG “…I saw Heaven open wide—and oh! A white horse and its Rider. The Rider, named Faithful and True, judges and makes war in pure righteousness. His eyes are a blaze of fire, on his head many crowns. He has a Name inscribed that’s known only to himself. He is dressed in a robe soaked with blood, and he is addressed as “Word of God.”” LET’S TALK T oday’s opening verse talks about the second coming of our Lord Jesus, as He rides on a white horse, wearing a robe dipped in blood. Notice that John didn’t say His robe was red; that’s very significant. The woman on the beast in Revelation 17:4 was dressed in purple and red clothes: “The woman was arrayed in purple and scarlet….” Jesus, on the other hand, was wearing a robe dipped in blood. So, what does this mean? When you want to lay claims to something you bought, you take the receipt. Jesus bought the whole world: “...The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field, which a man found and hid; and for joy over it he goes and sells all that he has and buys that field” (Matthew 13:44). Verse 38 shows us that the field is the world. Now, here’s Jesus coming out of heaven to the earth with His only receipt—His blood and He’s robed with it—His proof of purchase of the whole world! 1 Corinthians 6:20 also says, “For you were bought at a price...” and that purchase wasn’t made with ordinary materials like silver, gold, and precious stones. His blood was 24 9 the currency with which He paid for the sins of the whole world (1 Peter 1:18-19). Having paid the great price for our sins, Jesus purchased us as gifts for God (Revelation 5:9 TLB). Jesus paid for your life; so, you’re not your own anymore. Therefore, live on earth for Him alone because His blood, which represents His life, is your true value. His blood gives you remission, justification, access, fellowship, cleansing and the blessings of the New Testament. Hebrews 9:12 says, “He went once for all into the [Holy of] Holies [of heaven], not by virtue of the blood of goats and calves [by which to make reconciliation between God and man], but His own blood, having found and secured a complete redemption (an everlasting release for us)” (AMPC). Glory to God! My Notes 25 WHAT JUDGMENT IS AHEAD? (Stand Before The Judgment Seat Of Christ) TO THE BIBLE Monday, 10 2 Corinthians 5:10 “For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive the things done in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad. “ LET’S TALK A young guy once asked me, “Pastor Chris, are Christians going to stand before the Great White Throne and the Judgment Seat of Christ, and what’s the difference between these two?” I went on to explain that the Judgment Seat of Christ is very different from the Great White Throne judgment. The Great White Throne judgment is the most terrifying of all judgments, and it’s reserved for sinners alone. The Judgment Seat of Christ, on the other hand, is where we, God’s children, receive our rewards one by one from the Master, and not in groups (2 Corinthians 5:10). Now, notice what the Bible says in our opening scripture: “…in the body....” This “body” refers to the Body of Christ. When you were born again, you were baptised into the Body of Christ, and you’ve been there ever since. So, how have you functioned in the Body thus far? Have you done good or bad in the Body? Remember, everyone of us will receive a reward for the things done in the Body, whether good or bad. Another thing is that, at the Judgment Seat of Christ, not one of us in Christ will be condemned: “Therefore judge nothing before the time, until the Lord comes, who will both 26 bring to light the hidden things of darkness and reveal the counsels of the hearts. Then each one’s praise will come from God” (1 Corinthians 4:5). We’re all going to be praised, even though it’s a judgment where we’ll give account. “So, what about the bad things a Christian might have done?” someone may ask. The answer is in 1 Corinthians 3:1315: “Each one’s work will become clear; for the Day will declare it, because it will be revealed by fire; and the fire will test each one’s work, of what sort it is. If anyone’s work which he has built on it endures, he will receive a reward. If anyone’s work is burned, he will suffer loss; but he himself will be saved, yet so as through fire.” It’s all about your work for the Lord, so do more for the Lord and serve Him with wholehearted devotion. Hallelujah! Go Deeper Revelation 22:12; 1 Corinthians 9:24-25 Speak Dear Lord Jesus, I thank you for the privilege and opportunity to participate in the propagation of the Gospel. Tuesday, 11 TO THE BIBLE John 14:10 “Do you not believe that I am in the Father, and the Father in Me? The words that I speak to you I do not speak on My own authority; but the Father who dwells in Me does the works.” LET’S TALK I n their ignorance, some Christians sing songs like “Draw me nearer to you, O Lord!” Others are concerned that their prayers won’t go beyond the ceiling. They believe God is far above in Heaven while they are down below on Earth. The truth is, you don’t need your prayers to reach the sky or to draw closer to the Lord because He’s already inside you! Ask yourself, “How much “nearer” can I get to someone who’s right inside me?” Do you get it now? The God to whom you pray is right inside you, where you are, under the ceiling! Christianity is Christ in you, not Christ with you, or among you, but in you. There’s a distinct difference. When you realise that this great God of glory, in all His fullness and power, truly lives in you, it’ll change the way you think and the way you live; you’ll have a completely different perspective on life. This is why you need to practise and train yourself to have the consciousness of the indwelling Christ. Have the mentality of Jesus. When He was on earth, He lived in union with the Father, and was constantly mindful of the Father’s indwelling presence. In our opening verse, where He said, “...the Father who dwells in Me...,” He was referring to the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is co-equal with 28 God. He is the Father who lives in you! So, you see, He’s not far away; He’s in you! 1 Corinthians 6:17 talks about our inseparable union with Jesus; it says, “But he who is joined to the Lord is one spirit with Him.” This is the reason you can enjoy rich fellowship with Him, and walk in union with Him. There’s no need to try to reach out to Him, crying out as though He were far away. Everywhere you are, He’s in you, and you’re in Him. He is your home; you were born into Him when you were born again. 2 Corinthians 5:17 says, “If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation…”; you live, move and have your being in Him. Like Jesus, be bold to say, “I am in the Father, and the Father is in me” (John 14:11). Glory to God! My Notes 29 GOD’S ANSWER TO MAN’S CRY (Righteousness Revealed Through The Gospel) TO THE BIBLE Wednesday, 12 Romans 1:16-17 NIV “For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes: first to the Jew, then to the Gentile. For in the gospel the righteousness of God is revealed—a righteousness that is by faith from first to last, just as it is written: “The righteous will live by faith.”” LET’S TALK E ven as a young student, I prioritised preaching the Gospel above all else. Most of my classmates didn’t understand why I spent so much time holding large crusades in which I led many people to Christ and filled them with the Holy Spirit. What they didn’t realise was that I possessed something the world required: the Gospel, God’s solution to all of man’s problems. Many have wondered what it means to be righteous before God; and some have thought they’ll find the answer to living righteously from their religious leaders. However, the righteousness of God is only revealed in the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Until one accepts this Gospel, he or she will never know or receive the righteousness of God and be able to live a righteous life. This righteousness is the rightness of God in the human spirit. It’s the nature of God which gives anyone the ability to stand in the presence of God without condemnation, guilt, fear or inferiority. It’s the ability to stand in fellowship and rightness with God. 30 This is why we can’t afford to be quiet about the Gospel. It’s God’s answer to man’s cry. There’s no other way for men to receive salvation, learn and understand the righteousness of God, and come into an extraordinary fellowship and oneness with the Lord outside of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. So, preach the Gospel. Spread the good news of righteousness to everyone in your world, being absolutely convinced that it’s man’s only way to be made right with God. If you’ve never been born again, now is the time: Confess the Lordship of Jesus over your life, believing in your heart that God raised Him from the dead. Accordingly, the life and nature of God will be imparted to your spirit—with the ability to walk in, and manifest the righteousness of God. Hallelujah! My Notes 31 PROPHECY—YOUR WAR STRATEGY (Weaponise Prophecies In Your Fight Of Faith) TO THE BIBLE Thursday, 13 1 Timothy 1:18 NIV “Timothy, my son, I give you this instruction in keeping with the prophecies once made about you, so that by following them you may fight the good fight.” LET’S TALK “S tella, I know you said we should prophesy whenever we pray, but I’m still not sure why. Is it really that important?” Rhoda inquired of her older sister. “Yes, Rhoda, it is! When you prophesy, you’re wielding a powerful weapon in the realm of the spirit, and satan can’t withstand you!” was Stella’s reply. I love the Passion Translation of the above verse: “…Use your prophecies as weapons….” This means weaponising the prophecies that have been spoken concerning you. Use the prophetic word concerning your life, future, ministry, schoolwork, etc. as a weapon in prosecuting the good fight of faith. Ephesians 6:17 sheds more light on this; it says, “And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.” The sword of the spirit refers to the spoken word, and the spoken word is the prophetic word. It’s an offensive weapon. There’re two things here about prophecies: There’s the prophecy that’s spoken over your life as an individual, and there’s also the Word of God that’s already been written, which the Bible refers to as “...a more sure word of prophecy...” (2 Peter 1:19 KJV). When you take that word that’s been written about you and utter it in faith, that’s prophecy; you’re speaking forth 32 “Rhema” which the Bible describes as the sword of the Spirit in Ephesians 6:17. For example, the Bible says, “You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world” (1 John 4:4). That’s the written word (Greek=Logos). But when Satan comes out against you or you want to launch an offensive against him, you say, “Devil, I’m born of God, and I’ve overcome you because it’s written: Greater is He that’s in me than he that’s in the world.” Instantly, you’ve weaponised that scripture! When you utter those words as “Rhema,” they become the Word of God in your mouth. And the Word of God in your mouth is God talking. That’s what we do in prayer; we speak forth the “Rhema” of God in supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks in line with 1 Timothy 2:1. My Notes 33 TRUST IN GOD ALONE (The Lord Is Absolutely Trustworthy) TO THE BIBLE Friday, 14 Psalm 146:3 GNB “Don’t put your trust in human leaders; no human being can save you.” LET’S TALK I decided very early on in my life that I wouldn’t live an empty life. I desired to live with purpose, confidence, and certainty whilst understanding God’s plan. I wanted to put my life in the Lord’s hands. I didn’t want to do things simply because everyone else did. But how would I know what He desired? How could I entrust my life to God if I didn’t know Him? This decision led me to study the Bible and be guided by the Holy Spirit into the revelation of His truths. That’s one book that never speculates! In it, I discovered that God was more passionate about my success, victory, and joy than I could ever be. I discovered He loved me more than I loved myself. Then it was easy for me to trust Him, let go of my own dreams and pursuits, and follow His divine plan. As a Christian, put your trust in God alone. Don’t put your trust in the failing systems of this world. Don’t put your faith in a government, a society, or any other form of authority. The Bible says, “It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in princes” (Psalm 118:9). Man will always fail, so don’t live your life relying on systems and structures created by man for your success and prosperity. 34 You were made to put your faith in God and His Word. You’ve got to start practising relying on God. Our opening verse says, “Don’t put your trust in human leaders; no human being can save you.” The 5th verse says, “Happy are those who have the God of Jacob to help them and who depend on the LORD their God” (Psalm 146:5 GNB). Put your trust in God. Study His Word. Get to know Him; to know Him is to trust Him. When you know Him, you’ll make an unqualified commitment to Him. You’d never think that, somehow, you’d end up a failure. It’s impossible! He loves you and certainly wouldn’t allow anything to destroy you. God searches all hearts and understands all the thoughts and goings-on in our minds. So He seeks a perfect heart and a willing mind. He said in 2 Corinthians 8:12, “For if there is first a willing mind, it is accepted....” Remember what the Bible says of Amaziah the King: He did what was right in the sight of God, but not with a perfect heart (2 Chronicles 25:2). But how’s your heart going to be right with God? How’s your mind going to be willing? It is done through the Word. A heart that’s perfect and willing is one that’s yielded to the Word, one that’s sanctified, renewed, and under the sway of the Spirit through the Word. The Bible says in 2 Corinthians 4:6, “For it is the God who commanded light to shine out of darkness, who has shone in our hearts....” How did He do it? Through the Word! His Word illuminates our hearts to know His will. Then, in Romans 12:2, it says, “And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your 38 mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.” You wouldn’t know God’s mind, His thoughts, opinions, or His perfect will concerning anything if you didn’t know His Word. That’s the reason you must study and know the Scriptures for yourself. Jesus said, “...You are mistaken, not knowing the Scriptures nor the power of God...” (Matthew 22:29). If you want to serve God rightly, then get to know the Word. It’s about the Scriptures getting into your spirit and culturing your mind. Give more attention to studying the Scriptures for the wisdom and insight of the Spirit, by which He gives you guidance on how to serve God truly, with a pure heart and a willing mind. She struts about like she’s some kind of royalty!” Leanna shot back. “Because that’s who I am!” Alicia responded. She had walked in unnoticed and overheard the conversation. “God’s Word says I’m righteous like He is and that I’m royalty; that’s why I act and speak the way I do,” she continued. “Can you tell us more about this, Alicia?” Steve inquired. In this life, every child of God is a king and is called to reign in righteousness. Righteousness gives you the ability to stand in the presence of God without condemnation; to stand in fellowship with God, having His rightness in your spirit. This is where our audacity of faith comes from. It’s the reason we’re bold to make demands in His Name, decree a thing and have it established. It’s because our righteousness is of Him; it’s not what you did or didn’t do, but what Jesus did! God declared you righteous freely, and declared Himself to be righteous by so doing: “To demonstrate at the present time His righteousness, that He might be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus” (Romans 3:26). Hallelujah! 40 Righteousness makes you a master in life; it gives you dominion. God has imparted His nature of righteousness to you, and that’s what makes you like Him. That nature makes you think, see, and talk like Him. You’ve been raised to His level through Christ. You’ve received grace to reign over and above Satan and the elements of this world. This makes you a victor not a victim (1 John 4:4). The Bible says He’s made us kings and priests and we shall reign on the earth. Kings reign by issuing decrees and pronouncements; Ecclesiastes 8:4 says, “Where the word of a king is, there is power; and who may say to him, “What are you doing?” No wonder the Bible says you shall decree a thing, and it shall be established unto you (Job 22:28). He’d studied and practised the precautions on himself so thoroughly that he was now an “expert” in the field. What he hadn’t realised was that his mind had now been conditioned to believe some falsities and lies from the world. How I wish he had allowed the Word to condition him instead! There’s something very significant that God’s Word can do for you; the Word can so condition and season your mind that you start thinking like God. That’s amazing! It’s the reason we’re admonished to renew our minds with the Word through meditation. When the Word gets into you through meditation, you’re programmed to live accordingly. Circumstances, the world around you, and other voices may try to sway you from the Word, but they won’t succeed if your spirit is conditioned by the Word. Rather than feed on the garbage from the world on social media, movies, the Internet 42 etc., get yourself conditioned by the Word! For example, if you’ve been timid or afraid, meditate on the Word. 2 Timothy 1:7 says, “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.” Keep affirming, “I have a sound mind; I’m bold, courageous, and full of power.” Before long, the Word will season you with boldness, courage and excellence; you’ll become audacious in faith. The Word in you is the foundation for a great life. The Word in you makes you impregnable to the crises of life; it makes you think, see and act from the viewpoint of advantage and victory only. With such a mentality, everything you do prospers; you walk in excellence and grace. It makes no difference the challenges you face or who might be working against you; you’re unperturbed, because the Word has conditioned your spirit to know that nothing and no one can successfully stand against you. I’ve tried talking to some people about You, but they just make fun of me and wouldn’t listen.” These are some of the thoughts that in the minds of many young Christians when they face challenges in their soul winning efforts. But the question is, are they copying the Lord Jesus or just trying to do it on their own? The Lord Jesus was a Master soul winner. Follow His examples. One day, He encountered a certain woman at the well of Samaria and engaged her in dialogue. The woman came to draw water from the well. But to get her attention, the Lord initiated a conversation with her on something that was of interest to her—the water. When the Master had her undivided attention, he witnessed to her, and she believed and went about telling others about her encounter with Him. Hallelujah! Everything the Master did was always geared towards winning souls into the Kingdom. It was His topmost priority. “But, Pastor, how do I engage my friends in a conversation in order to lead them to Christ?” you might ask. That’s simple; take a cue from the Master. To witness to others, Jesus always knew how to engage them in a conversation about a topic 44 that was of interest to them. Observe what your friends might be interested in, and initiate a conversation along that line. You can ask them to explain something to you about a book or magazine they might be holding or reading, and then you listen with rapt attention. If you do, they’re more likely to also give you their attention when you start witnessing to them. The Lord may give you specific instructions about someone to whom you must bear witness. At such times, don’t procrastinate; go right ahead and follow the Lord’s guidance. Do exactly what He tells you to do or say. (There’s Truth In Your Spirit) TO THE BIBLE Wednesday, 19 2 Thessalonians 2:13 “...We are bound to give thanks to God always for you, brethren beloved by the Lord, because God from the beginning chose you for salvation through sanctification by the Spirit and belief in the truth.” LET’S TALK W ith so much false information floating around today, some people have become perplexed and unsure of what to believe. But that isn’t you! Yes, some people are always at odds with the truth, but you’re not one of them. You were chosen to understand and accept the truth. According to the Bible, wisdom is known and justified among her children (Luke 7:35), and wisdom is truth. Even if you hear religious messages and various things about God, one thing is certain: When God’s true Word reaches you, it will be accompanied by a conviction of truth! God “chose you for salvation through sanctification by the Spirit and belief in the truth,” according to our opening verse. Salvation could only work for you if the Holy Spirit sanctified you and you believed the truth. So the Holy Spirit distinguishes you to believe the truth because knowing and believing the truth requires God’s grace. As a result, you will never have to worry about determining the difference between truth and falsehood. 46 Jesus said, “And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free” (John 8:32). The truth of God always blesses, lifts, strengthens, and protects. The truth instils love in you and causes you to walk and talk like Christ. It does not cause confusion, and it carries no hatred, bitterness, or fear. Because truth is in your spirit, as you devote yourself to the study of the Word, you will be able to judge everything with the truth of God’s Word at all times. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.” LET’S TALK W hen reading about the last days in the Bible, it’s necessary to consider the context first, followed by the writer’s message. The “Last Days,” as they are frequently mentioned in the Bible, refer to the days preceding the millennial period. And the prophets who used those terms specifically did not include the Church age. So, when we speak of the last days, we’re not referring to the Jewish Calendar as provided by the prophets but to the days before the Lord returns for His Church. There are numerous indicators that should alert you to where we are now and how much time the world has before the judgements of the nations begin. As a result, no matter where you are today, I want you to know that Jesus is on His way. There are those of us who believe this and are waiting for Him. Some others don’t believe He’s coming, and, thus, aren’t expecting Him. But He is coming, and He is coming for those who “...love his appearing” (2 Timothy 4:8 KJV), those who are looking forward to Him. “Blessed are those servants whom the master, when he comes, will find watching...” (Luke 12:37), 48 those who say, “...Even so, come, Lord Jesus” (Revelation 22:20). From today, live your life waiting for and expecting Him. Remember, He levitated out of this world about two thousand years ago. All of the prophecies about His coming are being fulfilled right before our eyes. Most importantly, He said, “...Surely I am coming quickly...” (Revelation 22:20). He’s on His way to take His Church. Do you belong to His Church? On that day, it will not be a gradual process; it will happen in an instant, in the blink of an eye; we will be raptured out of this world to meet the Lord in the air. Don’t be caught off guard. Maintain your faith in Christ, in righteousness, and in living for Him. Go Deeper 2 Peter 3:3-5; 1 Thessalonians 4:16-18 Pray Dear Father, thank you for the blessing and ministry of the Holy Spirit in my life, who guides and keeps me on the path of righteousness as I await your glorious return. My Notes 49 THE JOINT SITTING (Jesus’ Authority Has Been Extended To You) TO THE BIBLE Friday, 21 Ephesians 2:6 “(God) raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus.” LET’S TALK T he expression, “sit together” in Ephesians 2:6 is from the Greek “sugkathizō” and it refers to a “joint sitting.” It’s a legal term, and it means Jesus’ authority has been extended to us; we’re using the same authority with Him. Thus, everything Jesus utters is in our name, and everything we utter is in His Name. He doesn’t decide without us, and we don’t make a decision without Him. This is extremely profound! Our joint sitting is heavenly, not earthly. It has been decided from on high. We are Jesus’ earthly legal representatives today. What we say on earth is endorsed by Him. Understanding this is critical. It means that you can take a stand on God’s Word and effect a change on the basis of this understanding, and it will be approved by God. Some believe that nothing will change until all Christians around the world band together to oppose Satan and his antics and deception. But consider this: Our opening verse—Ephesians 2:6—was not written to the Corinthians, nor was it sent to the Thessalonians; they were most likely unaware of the information. So, not every Christian had the same level of faith or knowledge then, nor do they now. However, what God expects is that those of us who 50 have come to maturity, who have the understanding of His Word and of the times, will take our stand and our place in Christ to keep Satan under our feet where he belongs. That’s what’s important. With this kind of knowledge, you maintain control of things in your life, environment, and world. You nullify Satan’s plans and works and pull them down by the power of the living Christ. Don’t be troubled by what’s happening in the world today; use your authority in Christ. You reign in Him and through Him over Satan, darkness, the world, and circumstances. Therefore, subdue your world. Let nothing but Christ reign in your physical body, in your school, in your family, and in your world. Remember, you’re seated with Him in glory, with the same authority. Praise God forevermore! Go Deeper Luke 10:19 AMPC; 1 John 4:17; Ephesians 1:20-23 Speak The Lord Jesus is seated at the right hand of the Father, far above all principality, power, might, and dominion, and every name that is named, and I have joint sitting with Him! My Notes 51 WORD SCOPE “EDIFY” 1 Corinthians 14:4 says, “He who speaks in a tongue edifies himself, but he who prophesies edifies the church.” The Greek word translated “edify” is “oikodomeō,” and it means “to construct or to build up, to embolden or charge up like a battery.” The scripture is therefore telling us that the one who speaks in other tongues builds himself up like an edifice; he emboldens himself and charges himself like a battery. Speaking in tongues is the solution to fear and timidity. If you ever become timid about anything, activate the power within you by speaking in other tongues; you’ll find yourself dealing wisely and soundly in the affairs of life. Also, if you want to operate in the highest level of faith which you’ve attained, then you must consistently speak in other tongues. In Jude 1:20, the Bible says when you speak in other tongues you’re building yourself on your most holy faith. That means the Spirit of God is able to take God’s Word right into your spirit where it produces God’s kind of faith. 52 i-testify! “My life has been transformed because of the TeeVo devotional. It has taught me so much and every day I wake up knowing that I receive revelation from God through TeeVo. Thank you Pastor Chris for this amazing book that changes lives. Glory to God.” Njideka O., Nigeria. 53 ARE YOU WAITING FOR A FEELING? (Live By Faith And Keep The Senses Out) TO THE BIBLE Saturday, 22 2 Corinthians 5:7 TPT “...We live by faith, not by what we see with our eyes.” LET’S TALK O nce, I asked someone, “What does the power of God feel like and where do you feel it?” He couldn’t tell. So, I began to explain it to him. We can have feelings all over our body and recognise it’s the power of God; we can have feelings in our hands and recognise it’s the power of God. But here’s the question: What if you don’t feel it? Will it mean God is no longer there, or His power is absent? That’s where a whole lot of people miss it. When you feel the power or presence of God, it’s good, but God doesn’t want you to feel anything for you to know He’s with you and in you. This dependency on feelings has destroyed the faith of many. He doesn’t work by feelings but by faith! In the New Testament, it makes no difference whether or not you feel the power or presence of God. I’ve felt the power of God many times, and I’ve also had occasions where I didn’t feel anything, but I had just as many results when I felt it as when I didn’t, because I understood that the “feeling” had nothing to do with it. Understand something: the totality or fullness of the Holy Spirit lives in you. It doesn’t get better than that. God doesn’t increase Himself or reduce Himself in you. He dwells in you in His full measure. Are you aware that God isn’t more in heaven than He is in you? You’re His living tabernacle, His 54 habitation, and His mobile headquarters. You’re in Him, and He’s in you. In other words, you’ve become His habitation, and He’s become your habitation. Hallelujah! You live in Him, and He lives in you. This has fulfilled the dream of Jesus Christ in His prayer to the Father in John 14:20: “...I am in My Father, and you in Me, and I in you....” The Holy Spirit made it happen. You’re inseparably one with Him; so, don’t rely on your feelings in relating with God; rely on His Word. God is a Spirit, and He relates with you, with your spirit, through the Word. If you’d understand this, your whole life— your ministry, your prayer life, your worship—will be completely transformed and you’ll live every day in glory, dominion, and excellence. Glory to God! Go Deeper Romans 8:8; Philippians 3:3; John 14:16-17 Speak I live in Christ, and Christ lives in me! I’m His habitation, and He’s my habitation! I’m walking in the light of my oneness with Him. (Discover The Real Blessing Of Prayer) TO THE BIBLE Sunday, 23 1 John 5:14 “Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us.“ LET’S TALK ee you guys later; I’m going for evening prayers.” “S “Marcus, why are you always going for prayers; is there any problem?” Cyril quizzed. “No, there’s no problem at all; it’s just part of my religious duty to God.” “If I were you, I’d want to know that God actually hears and answers my prayers.” The real blessing of prayer isn’t that we can make requests and supplications of our heavenly Father, but that He responds to them all the time! Prayer is meaningless if God never hears or responds. But, thank God, we have an assurance—a guarantee to be heard when we pray: “And this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us” (1 John 5:14). The confidence we have is that whenever we ask anything or make any request according to His will, He listens to us and responds. The first part of His response is the consciousness and the confirmation that He gives to you in your spirit that you’re being heard and answered; that’s a great blessing! In John 15:16 AMPC, Jesus said, “You have not chosen Me, but I have chosen you and I have appointed you… that 56 whatever you ask the Father in My Name [as presenting all that I AM], He may give it to you.” How beautiful this is! You’re ordained to receive answers when you make petitions or decrees in the Name of Jesus. We find another beautiful scripture in John 16:24. It says, “Until now you have asked nothing in My name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full.” God’s desire is for you to have your requests granted, so that your joy may be full. He’s your loving heavenly Father, and you can be confident to table your requests before Him with an assurance of a response. So, always pray in confidence. It’s never God’s will to withhold good things from you. So, be confident to ask Him for the best things of life. If you’re not confident before God, you can’t be effective in your walk of faith. Go Deeper Speak Mark 11:24; Psalm 6:9; 1 Peter 3:12 Gracious and righteous Father, I’m inspired by the truth of your Word, your love, and your eternal kindness; even now, I’m strengthened in my confidence to ask whatever I will, knowing that it’s your delight to hear and answer my prayers. (Live Purposefully For Christ) TO THE BIBLE Monday, 24 Ephesians 5:15-16 AMPC “Look carefully then how you walk! Live purposefully and worthily and accurately, not as the unwise and witless, but as wise (sensible, intelligent people), Making the very most of the time [buying up each opportunity], because the days are evil.” LET’S TALK R ecent attempts by Satan to drive the world into an environment of the antichrist (before the Rapture) have resulted in a great deal of deception and the devastation of lives and livelihoods. Thank God, the Church stepped up to the plate and thwarted all of Satan’s schemes and ploys. Hallelujah! But why did these events even occur in the first place? It was because many of God’s people were learning the principles of the kingdom only to satisfy their desires and measure their success by how many material possessions they had. They started living as if this was the only world there was, not recognising how brief life is here. Regardless of who you are or what you do, everything is about to come to an end. Live with intention and purpose. Refuse to let anything divert your focus from the Lord. Remember, profit is not godliness (1 Timothy 6:5). Do not assume that because you are accumulating belongings and experiencing success in material pursuits, you are carrying out God’s purpose. No, don’t gauge God’s approval by earthly standards. 58 Additionally, never feel as though you have lost anything by serving the Lord with all of your heart and resources because you don’t appear to possess many of the material possessions of this world. Serving the Lord and carrying out His will for your life are the finest things you can do on this planet. Get rid of any and all entanglements and burdens so that you can serve the Lord happily and with a pure heart. Don’t equate God’s prosperity with the world’s success symbols. Regardless of any difficulties you may experience, serve God with a perfect heart and be eager to thank Him. My Notes 59 HE’S “ANOTHER COMFORTER” (The Holy Spirit—The One Who Goes Alongside You) TO THE BIBLE Tuesday, 25 1 John 2:1 NIV “My dear children, I write this to you so that you will not sin. But if anybody does sin, we have an advocate with the Father—Jesus Christ, the Righteous One.” LET’S TALK J ohn the Apostle in 1 John 2:1 called the Lord Jesus “our advocate with the Father.” The word translated as “advocate” here is “paraklētos.” “Paraklētos” actually means one that is called to go alongside or go together with you, one that is called to aid; a helper. It’s the same word the Master used in His reassuring words in John 14:16 AMPC: “And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Comforter (Counselor, Helper, Intercessor, Advocate, Strengthener, and Standby), that He may remain with you forever.” This translation gives us seven beautiful synonyms that come out of the word “paraklētos.” Comforter is one; the others are Counselor, Helper, Intercessor, Advocate, Strengthener, and Standby. Hallelujah! Why did Jesus talk about “another Comforter” to His disciples before His death, burial, and resurrection? It’s because He was going away to the Father, and wouldn’t be with them for much longer. For that reason, He’d ask the Father to send them “another” Comforter, who would abide with them forever! 60 The word “another” is translated from the Greek word “Allos.” “Allos” means another one of the same kind, quality and type. So, He’s saying that this Comforter (the Holy Spirit) would be like Himself. In John 14:17-18, He continued, “The Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you. I will not leave you orphans; I will come to you.” Jesus, our Comforter, went to heaven, but He sent us the Holy Spirit to take His place so we’ll never miss His presence. Now, instead of walking the streets with you as Jesus did with the disciples, He walks the streets in you. He’s in you and with you forever. Praise God! My Notes 61 MAKE NO CARNAL CHOICES (Think, See And Live Spiritually) TO THE BIBLE Wednesday, 26 Proverbs 16:25 NIV “There is a way that appears to be right, but in the end it leads to death.” LET’S TALK I n Genesis 13:14, God said to Abraham, “...Lift your eyes now and look from the place where you are— northward, southward, eastward, and westward.” Abraham didn’t look with his physical eyes; that vision would have been very limited. Rather, he looked in the spirit and saw the whole world, because Romans 4:13 NASB says, “For the promise to Abraham or to his descendants that he would be heir of the world was not through the Law, but through the righteousness of faith.” Think about that! However, this wasn’t the case with his nephew Lot. When Lot had a similar opportunity, read what the Bible says: “And Lot lifted his eyes and saw all the plain of Jordan, that it was well watered everywhere…” (Genesis 13:10). Lot was carried away by the lushness and plushness of the land, what his physical eyes could see. Remember, Lot was also a righteous man (2 Peter 2:7-8) but because he didn’t see spiritually, he made wrong choices that messed up his life. There’re Christians today who made certain choices for which others applauded them, but those choices led or would lead to their destruction. Therefore, I say to you: Don’t make carnal choices. See in the Spirit, with the Spirit, and 62 through the Spirit. Let the Holy Spirit help you bring God’s dream that’s in your heart to pass. See and live spiritually; that way, everything about your life will have only one clear motive: how to continually bring glory to Jesus Christ! So, in making life’s choices, let it be with a heart of purity, a heart of righteousness—devoid of fleshly and selfish inclinations. Go Deeper Colossians 3:1-2; Matthew 6:33; Hebrews 11:8-10 Pray Dear Lord, all I ever want is to please you, walk in your perfect will, and see your will and purpose established in the earth and in the hearts of men as it is in heaven. How do I forgive her?” “I know it stings, but you have to choose to forgive her and walk in love, even though you know she did you wrong on purpose,” Angela gently admonished. 1 Corinthians 14:20 AMPC has a highly significant admonition for God’s people. It says, “Brethren, do not be children [immature] in your thinking; continue to be babes in [matters of] evil, but in your minds be mature [men].” Babies are incapable of maintaining animosity or being bitter. They are too naive for that; they lack the intelligence to even acknowledge that they have been wronged. God wants you to live that way. Don’t regard the wrong done to you by others to the extent that you become bitter. The Bible says you shouldn’t allow any root of bitterness to spring up in your heart and trouble you, and then tells you why: it’ll defile you (Hebrews 12:15). It makes no difference how “justified” you may think you are to be angry, bitter, or offended; any action taken as a result of bitterness has defilement in it. It’s only a matter of 64 time before the decadence in it will manifest. Rather, build on love’s foundation. Remember what James 1:20 GNB says, “Human anger does not achieve God’s righteous purpose.” Some people have been wounded to the point of tears, and with bitterness in their hearts, acted in a wrathful way. But you can’t move with anger and expect that the righteousness of God is being fulfilled. Also, be wise to recognise when those around you are being motivated by some dissatisfaction, anger and frustration. Correct them. Walk in love and the wisdom of God will guide you in all your affairs. Go Deeper Speak Ephesians 4:31 NIV; Proverbs 22:24-25; Matthew 5:44 I give no room for anger or bitterness in my heart. My Notes 65 HIS MESSAGE TO THE WHOLE WORLD (Preach Jesus Everywhere And To Everyone) Friday, 28 TO THE BIBLE Acts 4:12 TLB “There is salvation in no one else! Under all heaven there is no other name for men to call upon to save them.” LET’S TALK T he Gospel is for everybody; it’ll produce results in the life of anyone who hears and believes it. But for them to believe, they must hear it first. That’s where you come in, for they can’t hear without a preacher (Romans 10:14). Our opening verse says, “There is salvation in no one else! Under all heaven there is no other name for men to call upon to save them.” There’s no other way; let’s not act as if there’s another way. Since Jesus is the only way, and we believe He is the only way, then we can’t be quiet. We must tell everyone about Him. If your parents aren’t born again, talk to them about Jesus; share the Word of God with them. If you’re friends with someone who’s not born again, talk to that person about Jesus. If you’re a student, preach Christ to your teachers, lecturers and fellow students. Win everyone you can. When you’re on the train, in a bus, taxi, or on a flight, talk about Jesus. When you go to a shop, tell them about Jesus. It doesn’t matter where you are; talk about Jesus! Preach the Word everywhere and to everyone and inspire others to do 66 the same. Let’s fill the earth with the knowledge of Christ. Win souls everywhere, for the time is short. Be bold about Jesus Christ. If you have fears or you have any kind of hang-ups, throw them all away; you’re a child of God; you’re a witness of the love of Jesus Christ. (Always Follow And Trust God’s Word) TO THE BIBLE Saturday, 29 2 Samuel 3:1 “Now there was a long war between the house of Saul and the house of David. But David grew stronger and stronger, and the house of Saul grew weaker and weaker.” LET’S TALK T he Bible tells us about the House of David and the House of Saul. You get a clear picture of their differences when you look at what happened in the days of David as a young man , after God chose him to be king while Saul was still alive. Saul had turned his back on God. And the older he got, the less he listened to God. Towards the end of his life, he would even go to the witch of Endor; he was more concerned about what the people thought than what God thought. Saul wanted to kill David because he realised God’s hand was on David and his dream to maintain a lasting dynasty was failing. But he didn’t succeed. Finally, Saul died; but his house continued to persecute David because of their selfish ambitions. That’s why the Bible says there was a long war between the house of David and the house of Saul (2 Samuel 3:1). The house of Saul had become the house of the flesh, the house of sin and selfish ambitions. You could liken that to God’s children today who, even though they were chosen by God, aren’t listening to Him anymore. As a child of God, you 70 must walk in the wisdom of God. Be discerning! (The Reign Of Jesus Christ And His Church) TO THE BIBLE Sunday, 30 Ephesians 1:22-23 “And He put all things under His feet, and gave Him to be head over all things to the church, which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills all in all.” LET’S TALK T he resurrection of Jesus Christ started a new reign, the reign of His spiritual Kingdom. The Bible says, “For if by the one man’s offense death reigned through the one, much more those who receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness will reign in life through the One, Jesus Christ” (Romans 5:17). This is remarkable! In Acts 13:38, the Bible says, “Therefore let it be known to you, brethren, that through this Man is preached to you the forgiveness of sins.” This means forgiveness (remission) of sins is through Jesus Christ. Philippians 2:9-10 also says, “...God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth.” This is extraordinary! Jesus was raised from the dead and given the Name that has power over all things, over all three domains: heaven, earth and hell. He’s Lord and Master over all things! Glory to God! From the time He began to reign through the Church, He gave us the power of attorney to use His Name, to exercise authority in His Name. Hallelujah! As long as we are here on earth and can use the 72 Name of Jesus, Satan and his band of evil conspirators and henchmen can’t run this world. It’s impossible! That coexistence of authorities is not possible. The power that the antichrist will wield on earth will be absolute authority and power. But that can’t happen while we’re here, because the dominion of the Name of Jesus is over all nations. The Bible says “...the Lord is King and rules the nations” (Psalm 22:28 TLB). Therefore, serve Him joyfully and with all your heart, knowing that you’re reigning in life through Jesus Christ. Go Deeper Mark 16:17; Ephesians 1:19-23; Romans 5:17 Speak Christ reigns through me and His righteousness is expressed through me. Christ reigns in the nations. I take advantage of His might, of His power, standing in His Name to break the influence of Satan over the nations, over the peoples, over the leaders, over the young ones all around the world! His righteousness fills the earth and mantles the hearts of men, for all souls belong to Him. Hallelujah.
