Write your thesis statement of the following speech. “Are subcultures increasingly
rare as technology connects us and blurs the boundaries of physical space?
Respond to this idea and share a perspective on the interaction between
technology and subcultures.” (450-600 words)
The way that we are affected on consuming the knowledge and how it affected
the subcultures
Technology is now considered a critical and essential tool for enhancing teaching and learning by
enabling students to access education from anywhere, at any time and often at their own pace.
Technology keeps developing and improving day after day. Some rejoice at that, and others view it as
a curse we will all suffer from one day. Every day there are new discoveries, and new inventions.
Technology rose to our world with many unforgettable virtues and bigamous. Certainly, the most
important invention or discovery in the history of humankind is technology. However, there is a view
which states that subcultures are becoming increasingly rare nowadays because modem day
technology connects us and blurs the boundaries of physical space between us. I will discuss the
validity of this view in this speech.
The term "subculture" refers to a group of individuals who share similar lifestyles, beliefs, or values.
Thus, a subculture refers to people who belong to a group that differs from the dominant culture or the
dominant people in a particular section of society because of the dominant culture not meeting the
needs or interests of members of their subculture. In other words, these groups develop in order to
meet the demands of their interests or shared experiences related to their particular identities. Schools
are not considered subcultures, although you may think they are. A subculture is more specific, such
as the school football team, the nerds, the scholars, or the art department. There are millions of
subcultures in a country. The reason is that we all have many interests in life, and thus we contribute
to many subcultures. Let's take me as an example, I enjoy playing football and I'm quite an athletic
guy, so I spend quite a bit of time with my teammates. Meanwhile, the scholars I am a part of are a
different community than the day students, since most of the day students come from around the
school, whereas the scholars come from different parts of Oman. But it's easy to believe nowadays
that the world is coming together and the internet has a significant role to play. Since the mobile
phone can be used to connect people who are far apart and eliminate geographical distances, you have
full access to the internet and you can use it whenever and wherever you want. It has become easier to
talk and interact with someone who is miles away from you people are becoming more similar as they
are stationarity. Moreover, everyone has a role model and a person to look up to. This person can have
a huge impact on your life.
In my opinion , the cell phone divides, rather than unites When people hang out, they feel the
necessity to sit in front of their screens rather than in each other’s presence Day after another, it
becomes worse and worse That which began as that which unites everyone together has become that
which isolates everyone from one another Although we all believe technology is beneficial in so
many, varying, infinite ways, its negative impact on the world is extremely huge and we can't keep
turning a blind eye to it. Besides that, technology has contributed to subcultures, and it has caused
subcultures to decrease and spread less. We must find a way to limit the negative impact of
technology on subcultures specifically and on the world in general. However, It is true that as
technology advances and improves, subcultures are becoming increasingly rare but I would like to
state that the invention of the cell phone was one of the greatest and one of the worst steps humanity
could have taken in pursuit of technological advancement in the past century.
Generally speaking, the internet has become a place where people can go to find out more about
things they care about. It's a great way to get information, share ideas, and make connections with
others. But sometimes, the internet can also be harmful and in some cases, dangerous. The problem is
not technology itself, but how people use it. It's important that we don't make it too easy for the
internet to influence our thoughts and choices. We have to protect ourselves from outside forces by
building an impenetrable shield around our identities.
In conclusion, We can see how technology has transformed the way humans interact at all levels of
society. Although technology will continue to drive the way we communicate for years to come, it
still remains the driving force behind the way people communicate. It is true that subcultures are
declining because of how people use technology. However, I can assure you that if it is used in the
right way, then technology will help subcultures grow significantly and grow in number. Since
subcultures are crucial to us, they must be protected.
