- The positioning of the stay vanes and the nose vane shall be made by means of a
template supplied by the manufacturer of the spiral case using as reference the CAD
3D model geometry provided by VOITH HYDRO.

- REMARK (*):
NOTES
The dimensions marked with (*) shall be used as reference for positioning the spiral
case for its machining after the final welding. Also, the spiral case shall be centered
using the diameter DTi of the stay ring as reference (see drawing Ref.A5).

spiral case

- Weld seams: Symbolic representations acc. to ISO 2553 - System A.
- All weldings shall be according to GS 2-01022826 (VOITH specification based on
ISO 5817) quality level C, unless otherwise specified.
- Inspections and acceptance criteria of the welding seams: see ITP (Ref.B5). Scope
of the inspection (% of the welding seams to be checked): 100% for any quality level
from B to E.
- No shrinking or machining allowance is considered in the dimensions of the drawing.
- Stamping of parts and transfer of identification stamps of parts is not allowed on
machined surfaces, on weld seams and on water or oil touched surfaces (painting
systems W and OE).
- The dimensions indicated in the drawing specify the minimum penetration depth
(acc. to ISO 2553).
- Additional segment welding seams performed according the manufacturer's criteria
(if required) shall be CJP (Complete Joint Penetration) type and tested in 100% of
their length by UT and MT acc. GS 2-01022826 quality class B. Their location has to
be chosen in such a way that no cross joints get created.
- Annealing colors and weld spatters are not acceptable.
- The surface of the coated weld seams has to be quality class P2 according to ISO
8501-3 before coating.
- Additional auxiliary lugs for lifting and turning during the manufacturing at workshop
have to be designed, calculated and welded by the supplier. The material of the
additional lugs shall be similar to the base material to which they are going to be
welded. After removing these additional lugs, their welding areas shall be tested by
MT (acc. 2-01065751 quality class 4) or PT (acc. 2-01069269 quality class 4), as well
as VT (acc. 2-01068979 quality class 1).
- PWHT according to GS 2-01776937 after welding the whole spiral case assembly
(Temp. - Time - Graph required).
