Details of assessment tasks
Assessment task title: Post class online tests
Details of Task:
Format: Online homework, multiple choice and short-answer questions, problem solving.
There will be ten (10) online tests throughout the semester, with the first test starting in week
one of the semester. Each test will only be available through Moodle for one week, i.e. from
Friday 6pm in the topic week to Friday 11:55pm next week. Online homework test will test
lecture topic of the previous teaching week. Due dates change due to, for example, public
holidays, will be announced and advertised through Moodle.
Release date: Friday 6pm in designated weeks

Estimated return date: Upon completion of each assessment task
Criteria for marking: Further information on marking criteria to be provided in lectures.
Submission details: Submit online.

Penalties for late lodgement: Failure to complete the online exercise by 11:55pm each week
will result in you receiving a mark of 0 for the assessment for that week, due to the nature of
the task and system requirements. No negotiation will take place for failure to complete the
assigned task by the deadline.

Details of Task:
Material covered: Topics 1 - 5
Calculators are recommended. The test will cover content covered in tutorials, on-line quizzes
and material discussed in class related in week 1-5. More detail will be provided closer to the
time of sitting the test.
Release date: Additional information about how to access the test will be provided to you via
a Moodle announcement closer to the date.
Word limit: Not applicable
Presentation requirements: Not applicable
Estimated return date: Within two weeks after the test. It is imperative that you attend your
allocated tutorial in order to receive important formative feedback.
Criteria for marking: Further information on marking criteria to be provided in lectures.
Submission details: Details will be provided closer to the date.
Penalties for late lodgement: Failure to sit the test at the stipulated time will receive a mark
of 0 for this assessment component.

You are required to sit the test at the stipulated time. Work commitments are not grounds for
special consideration. Where an application for special consideration has been submitted for
consideration no later than two university working days after the date of an in-semester test
for the class to which they have been allocated and the application has been approved, then
the Chief Examiner will have the option of either:
● setting an equivalent make-up test, which the student would be required to take prior to the
examination period, or
● increasing the weighting of the student's final examination by the weighting of the insemester test.

This is an individual assignment. This assessment is designed to enhance students'
understanding on lecture topics. Structure and requirements for this assessment task will be
explained in class or on Moodle in the first four weeks of the semester.

Return of final marks
The final mark that a student receives for a unit will be determined by the Board of
Examiners taking into account all aspects of assessment.
The final mark for this unit will be released by the Board of Examiners on the date
nominated in the University Calendar. Student results will be accessible through the
my.monash portal.
Exam viewing
