P ris Fashion Week 2023 By: Alisar Ahmed & Farida Ahmed F ashion enthusiasts gather up! The most awaited fashion event has finally made an entrance. The Paris Fashion Week took place on Tuesday, January 17th up to Sunday, January 22nd. Let me bless you with the most iconic moments that took place during this unforgettable week. Viktor and Rolf- Late Stage Capitalism Waltz Starting off with a personal favorite, and the biggest bang of them all - The Late Stage Capitalism Waltz. They beat the word normal in so many ways with wearing the dresses in every direction - literally. Any direction you’d ever think of, there was a dress to compliment it. From sparkling upside down ball gowns to voluminous pastel toned dresses, we were blown away in every way possible. Schiaparelli Lion Dress This has been the talk of the internet for some time now. Kylie Jenner made quite the entrance with a gorgeous black dress with a life sized lion head on it. This has stirred some talk that it might be a real lion and that they were promoting big game hunting and taxidermy of these wild animals with the designs; however, it was hand sculpted out of foam and hand embroidered with wool and silk faux fur. Regardless of all the drama, Kylie killed it in this dress. Jenna Ortega All our Wednesday lovers already know about this but we had to mention it. Jenna Ortega appeared in a fantastic hooded Saint Laurent black dress and she didn’t fail to take our breaths away. Daniel Arsham- Wearable art from plaster History repeats itself with that one. With no doubt we all remember Bella Hadid’s Spray on dress. Well, this is the reverse act of it. The artist built a sculpture and tore it down to be a piece of clothing. It was absolutely beautiful to watch. 30K Swarovski A head turning moment was Doja Cat covered in 30,000 red crystals! This eye-catching outfit was custom designed by the fashion house’s creative director Daniel Roseberry and was brought to life by makeup artist Pat Mcgrath whose team spent almost five hours completing the look. In my opinion, it didn’t really appeal to me but I’d say the effort is pretty much appreciated. Leon Dame’s walk Leon Dame, a 20 year old man model from Berlin, stole the attention of everyone at the Maison Margiela show with his unusual, iconic runway walk. It was breaking the internet the past week, the amount of people who reposted on social media platforms - like TikTok - was massive. Jisoo classic look like Audrey Hepburn BLACKPINK’s fan favorite Jisoo had an Audery Hepburn makeover at the Dior show. She looked like a modern-day Audrey Hepburn with her micro bangs and her chic hairstyle, paired with simple jewelry. This is the 6th time for her to attend a Dior show. She’s been a global ambassador since March 2021, she also was featured in many Dior beauty campaigns. Elie Saab The astonishing Lebanese designer Elie Saab came with a collection that is a permissive escape from the ordinary and into a magical land. This year he looked for new, intricate shapes. Each majestic piece was created from the natural scenes and rituals of the kingdom of Thailand. The most unusual looks were males, as they wore very heavy suits and coats with Mandarin collars and a billowing cape that appeared from the back of the suit. O fcourse there were several moments, but we couldn’t fit everything into one article. This Fashion week has been more of a pleasure than anything and we think we speak for everyone when we say that it was very enjoyable, iconic and definitely will be very hard to forget.
