FOOD PANDA DELIVERY RIDER SAMPLED DIALOGUE Challenging and risky Narrator: Do you know how many of us suffered during the pandemic recession? We lost our jobs easily. Thus, we need to find other alternative, income and wages to support our basic expanses. Here is an engineer who lost her job and she faced her challenge bravely to select an unexpected job as delivery rider. Below is the interview session. Interviewer: Is it challenging to an experienced rider day and night? Rider: Yes, we need to ready to face any challenge especially heavy downpour. We need to be extra cautious or careful when we carry our customers’ parcel and food packages. Interviewer: Is it challenging or stressful for you to be a responsible delivery rider? Rider: Yes, it could be stressful if you think it as a task to accomplish. When you see the satisfaction portrayed by your customer, you feel relieved and happy. You will be motivated and passionate to be a professional delivery rider even though you own different degree from you previous workplace. Interviewer: It is sounds interesting from your perspectives of view. I am curious why you choose to register and work as a delivery rider at the first place? Is the amount of salary? The flexibility of working hour? Rider: To be honest with you, I did own a degree from business administration profession. I have been worked in aviation company for ten years but it changed drastically when the outbreak of pandemic in several continents. I am the sole bread of the family. I need to work to support my family. Therefore, I try and register to be a delivery rider. Surprisingly, it works for me. It is flexible according to my personal schedule. I have extra time to take care of my elderly parents and work at the same time without any hassle. Interviewer: It sounds good for you to be able to earn income during the pandemic recession. Rider: Yes, being a delivery rider is one of the alternatives to earn income. This is because you can rearrange your schedule to cater your needs especially you need to accompany our parents for doctor’s appointment. It is difficult to balance a hectic lifestyle and generate your desired income at the same time. I believe everyone deserves a chance to learn how to overcome the difficulties during the restriction of pandemic. Interviewer: Ermnnnn…. It reminds me about the recession of pandemic. How about your monthly income? Rider: It depends on the unpredictable weather, customers’ review and dedication. Narrator: It sounds like complicated than we thought. Let us watch the interview further. Interviewer: Can you explain these details further? Rider: Since our country is located in the Equatorial line, we will experience monsoon season and drought season. Therefore, we need to be prepare for the uncertainty. You need to have at least two raincoats for the rainy day and inspect safety equipment like elbow and knee protector, inner, helmet, safety lights, phone holder, rear rack during day and night. Interviewer: It sounds complicated to me. How about customers’ review? Rider: You need to be passionate for the job and patient at the same time. This is because there are some customers who love to call you when you are getting stuck in the congested traffic. You need to avoid busy facilities like high-traffic truck stops, restaurants, rest stops regardless the strategic position in the town area. When you reach your destination, you need to friendly to handle the parcel to your future customers. Interviewer: I think no one earn quick cash now. It seems that you are devoted to your work to earn good review from your customers. When the economic is slowly recovering, are you going to resign the delivery job? Rider: Yes, you need to work hard to earn other’s respect. It is isn’t easy task to accomplish. You need your customers to be able to tolerate with you because we don’t know each other’s at the first sight. Therefore, the riders really need their customers to give good reviews in order for them to generate continuous income from the future customers. Trust me, it is harder than you thought. Next, I don’t think I will resign when the lift of pandemic restriction. I will continue to work and gain alternative income at the same time. Interviewer: It sounds surprising from your point of view. Why would you want to continue to work as a delivery rider even though the economic is slowly recovering? Could you share with us? Rider: For your information, the delivery profession is less competitive compared to my previous field which is business administration. Furthermore, you can gain experience every day. Everyday is an adventure to me. It is like a chocolate box. You cannot predict what you are going to gain and acquire at the same time. In addition, I did mentioned previously. I choose to be a delivery rider because of its flexibility. I can choose to work at any time because I need to take care of my elderly parents. I was lucky enough to have supportive branch manager and kind-hearted colleagues when I have face any difficulties. Interviewer: Thank you for spending your precious time. Rider: Thank you very much.
