ELT Instructional Development Name: Noviarini NIM: F1021211031 Class: A2+ What can we teach with? Planning a lesson can be challenging since teachers must consider what their students need and what their school expects of them. It is crucial for teachers to carefully organize their lessons and courses well. Books are designed to help teachers in creating better lesson plans by providing helpful advice and directions. A book is a tool that provides the process of planning lessons and subjects while the materials and equipment needed in the teaching and learning process itself will depend on the particular context and resources of the school. Some of the material and equipment that can we use for teaching is textbook, workbook, audiovisual, computer, projectors, board, dictionary, rods, picture pack, and music tape. The use of picture packages can help students produce vocabulary, dialogue between characters in pictures, do picture placement together, play guessing games, make stories, help students relax and enjoy themselves and bring the outside world into the classroom. Meanwhile, teachers can also use music tape as a learning tool for some students or classes who like it. A tape is a memory device consisting of a long thin plastic strip used to record sounds while the tape recorder is an electrical device used for recording sounds on tape and for playing back the recorded material. The use of music tape in the learning process can help students to be more relaxed and have a good mood when they enter or leave the classroom. However, if students suggest bringing in other music then point them toward instrumental music. The coursebook is one of the central or main tools in the learning process. The whole coursebook is used as a stimulus for communication and language practice in the stimulusbased approach. It is essential to build and maintain student confidence, even if a coursebook has some shortcomings. Teachers should not undermine the value of using the book by criticizing it. When teaching by coursebooks to the students, teachers could modify or remove some parts of them to make it more engaging and interesting for the students. Teachers might rearrange the lessons, use simpler language, or include additional resources like videos. The process of evaluating textbooks must involve three main steps, namely identifying what is good, removing what is bad, and determining what needs to be added. Students can benefit as a result and achieve their learning objectives. Students can personalize the textbooks they use, such as by covering the coursebook, colored filters, forging connections, inner voice, and by the teacher that is able to dissect the coursebook. In addition, teachers can involve students in lessons that use coursebooks by reading aloud and shadows, different voices and gestures, and reversals. In this way, students indirectly practice their pronunciation and fluency in reading or finding new vocabulary. The teacher also can make something based on textbooks. They can use pictures in textbooks to increase interaction between students. Apart from studying it, students can exchange ideas or opinions with alternative brainstorming uses for a coursebook.
