Small Group Instruction Areas: o Create designated areas to meet with small groups for lessons, group projects or tutoring. o You will want to arrange small group areas so that you are able to observe the rest of the class from where you are sitting within the small group. Place your chair so that you are always looking towards the whole class. o Using a table allows the area to be used for activities such as writing or working with materials. If a table is not available or you want to change it up, you can have the students create a circle with their chairs or they can sit on a rug. o You can also create assigned seats so that the students can stay at their table while the teacher moves around from group to group. o You will have times where there will be multiple small groups working at once so you will want to provide many areas where they can meet. Some students can meet on the floor, at student desks, or at the small group table. You may also provide computer stations for groups to work.
