The results of your analyses shall be reported as follows:
- Excel file with all calculations and short commentary (text boxes)

Tasks:
Use the dataset mcas.xlsx in order to work on tasks (1) to (5).
1. (1) Run a simple regression including the two variables of interest. Show your
results graphically and in a table.
2. (2) Test different multivariate regression models. What model specification do you
prefer in order to analyze the effect of reducing class size on educational output?
Show your results in a table.
3. (3) Discuss the results of (1) and (2) (max. 5 bullet points).
4. (4) Check for non-linear effects in the key variables as well as the key control
variables and
show one illustrative example as a scatterplot in your results paper. Briefly discuss
how potential non-linearities should be considered in your regression model (max. 3
bullet points).
5. (5) Only in EXCEL: Pick one of your multivariate regression models. Demonstrate
that the partialling out method leads to the correct parameter estimates.
6. (6) Additionally use the data of California testscore example (from the lecture) in
order to check your results for external validity (table plus max. 5 bullet points).
7. (7) Discuss potential remaining effects on internal validity in your regression results
(max. 5 bullet points).
