Lesson Plan in Mathematics (4 A’s)
Grade 7
Week 3: 3rd Quarter
I. OBJECTIVES
After going through this module, you are expected to:
1. Identify the angles formed by parallel lines cut by a
transversal;
2. Determine the relationship between pairs of angles formed
by parallel lines cut by a transversal using measurement and
by inductive reasoning
II. SUBJECT MATTER
Topic: ANGLES FORMED BY PARALLEL LINES CUT BY A
TRANSVERSAL
Instructional Materials: Power Point Presentation, Laptop,
Smart TV, Chalk, Eraser

Checking of the Attendance
Setting of Classroom Standards
Checking and collecting of assignments (if there’s any)
Ask the students about the previous lesson.
What they learn in previous lesson.
C. Motivation
D. Activity
The teacher gives the game entitled “Guess the Gibberish”
related to the topic.
The teachers will conduct the activity where students should
identify the following figure.
Let’s Try!
E. Analysis
After the activity students will be asked by the following;
 What have you observed in the figure?
 What is the difference between parallel lines and
transversal lines?
F. Abstraction
Parallel lines have different real-life applications. In fact, you
can see these lines all around you. Now you can explore the
relationships between angle pairs created when a transversal
line cuts parallel line.
Parallel lines are lines that do not intersect and are
coplanar.
(|| symbol for parallel)
Transversal lines are lines that intersect two or more
coplanar lines in different points.
A transversal is a line that intersects two or more lines at two
or more distinct points.
Line l in each figure is a transversal while t is not. Line t in the
fourth figure is not a transversal because it intersects the other
lines at one point.
A transversal intersecting parallel lines like those in
second and third figures.
The angles are formed have special names:
Exterior Angles: The space OUTSIDE the 2 lines
Interior Angles: The space INSIDE the 2 lines
Corresponding Angles: Two angles that occupy
corresponding positions.
Same Side Interior Angles: Two angles that lie between
parallel lines on the same sides of the transversal.
Same Side Exterior Angles: Two angles that lie outside
parallel lines on the same sides of the transversal.
Alternate Interior Angles: Two angles that lie between
parallel lines on opposite sides of the transversal (but not a
linear pair)
Alternate Exterior Angles: Two angles that lie outside
parallel lines on opposite sides of the transversal.
Relationships between pairs of angles formed by
parallel lines cut by a transversal:

G. Application
The measures of alternate interior angles are equal.
The measures of alternate exterior angles are equal.
The sum of the measures of interior angles on the same
side of the transversal is 180.
The measure of corresponding angles is equal.
Given the figure below, identify the following pairs of angles.
Given the figure at the left, identify the following pairs of
angles.
A. Corresponding Angles
___________
__________
___________
__________
B. Alternate Exterior Angles
_____________
_____________
C. Alternate Interior Angles
_____________
_____________
D. Interior Angles on the same side of the transversal
_____________
_____________
Follow up Activity: Parallel lines Cut by Transversal
with measurement.
Find the measurement of all the other angles.
IV. EVALUATION
 Instruct the students to get a ½ crosswise sheet of
paper. For 10 minutes, let them do the task
Direction: Supply the correct answer (refer to the figure above).
Suppose: m∠1 = 40 (read as “the measure of angle 1 is 40𝑜 ”),
give the measure of the following angles:
1. m∠5 = ___________
2. m∠3 = ___________
3. m∠8 = ___________
4. m ∠ 7 = ___________
5. m∠ 6 = ___________
6. m ∠ 4 = ___________
7. m∠2 = ___________
