Wildlife & Fisheries Legislative Bill Debate 1. Choose a proposed bill affecting wildlife, fisheries, or outdoor recreation from the current SD Legislative Session. Bills can be found online at sdlegislature.gov. SD Game, Fish & Parks also tracks certain bills of interest (gfp.sd.gov > Agency > 2022 Legislative Updates). 2. Select whether you will be a proponent (for) or opponent (against) of this bill. 3. Prepare a statement/presentation for your stance/position. You may use a PowerPoint or any other visual aid to support your position if you want. Your presentation must be 1-3 minutes in length. 4. Each side will present their stance to the class. Then, each side will have the opportunity for a 1-3 minute rebuttal of their opponent’s stance. 5. After both sides have presented and had the opportunity for rebuttal, the rest of the class may ask questions of either side. Then, the class will vote whether to pass or fail the bill. Students will be graded based on their presentation, rebuttal, and response to questions from the class.
