PRESIDENTIAL YOUTH EMPLOYMENT INITIATIVE (PYEI)
ABOUT THE INITIATIVE
The University of KwaZulu-Natal, in partnership with the Department of Higher Education and Training,
seeks to provide 145 unemployed UKZN graduates employment and on the job training as part of the
Presidential Youth Employment Initiative (PYEI) to mitigate the devastating economic challenges
brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic.
WHO SHOULD APPLY?
Young talented individuals between the ages of 18 and 35, currently unemployed, not studying full
time, nor receiving any form of a government grant (including NSFAS), young persons living with
disability and women, you are eligible and encouraged to apply. In addition, you must have




Completed your qualification (Diploma, undergraduate degree or postgraduate degree) and
provide proof of same.
An excellent ability to work with people and within groups;
Good communication skills, be a good listener; and
An interest in serving the university community.
All successful candidates will be placed on graduate Internships for six months, from 1 May 2023 to 31
October 2023, for the following available opportunities:
