Reminder
The maximum amount of work I am allowed to submit for grading is 15 pages. After 15 pages, my work will
not be credited. The above page limits are strongly advised as the guide to scoring 8/8 in each Criteria. I
must liaise with my supervisor if I have any questions.
What is Criterion A?
I must write my Criterion A as separated and clearly-headed sections. The three sections are:
Strand i: I state my learning goal for the project and I explain (in justified detail) how my personal interest(s)
led to that goal.
Strand ii: I state my intended product (product goal) and develop appropriate success criteria for that
chosen product.
and
Strand iii: I present a clear and detailed plan for achieving the product AND all of its associated success
criteria that I stated in Strand ii.
Strand i: I state my learning goal for the project and I explain (in justified detail) how my
personal interest(s) led to that goal.
Explain, in detail, my chosen learning goal for my Personal Project.

What do I want to learn?
About what topic or thing do I want to learn and why?
Why is this of personal interest to me and do I have any personal
experience in the area of my project? Think about my MYP
Lessons…
Connect, clearly, my personal interests back to my chosen
learning goal. This is VERY important to secure the best score.
My explanation must be justified with reasons or causes for my choice of learning goal. I must write with
convincing detail. This should not be about my product; I will write about my product in the next section.
As my opening section, and the first section that will be assessed, I need to follow this guide very carefully.
There must be ONE clear and coherent learning goal that is very well communicated.
Strand ii: I state my intended product (product goal) and develop appropriate success
criteria for that chosen product.
1. I need to explain in detail the product I am going to create.
•
•
•
•
What will the outcome be?
Describe how this will look.
Explain how will it work.
Explain who is the intended audience.
This section is relatively short; aim for around 100-125 words.
2. I need to create my five criteria to assess the quality of my product at the end of this process.
Think: how will I know that I have been successful in my Personal Project? See guidance below:
•
•
•
•
What would a good ______ look like?
o What would a good bench/book/website/dance routine/podcast/plant pot/cookbook etc. look
like? I could try mindmapping the elements of my product before I begin!
Specific and related to the product.
My criteria must identify the multiple and different elements that work together in harmony to create
the final product.
My explanation and justification for each criteria must clearly give information on how each measure
will be tested
Students are strongly advised to write this as a justified ticklist (see below, Example 1). Alternatively,
students can write their criteria as an MYP-style rubric (see below, Example 2). Five different criteria is the
suggested amount to score an 8 in this strand of Criterion A. Students are strictly advised to keep the
number of criteria between a minimum of 4 and a maximum of 6.
Example 1: Justified ticklist (Animation)
Example 2: MYP-style rubric (Painting)
If I am going to create the rubric, I should use this guide for identifying the progressive difference between
level descriptors:
Level
Level 1 – 2
Level 3 – 4
Level 5 – 6
Level 7 - 8
Key terms that could be used
Limited, poor quality, unclear, disappointing, vague
Sufficient, acceptable, satisfactory, adequate, average
Good, pleasing, quality, appealing, variety, clear
Excellent, substantial, meaningful, significant, skillfully
Strand iii: I present a clear and detailed plan for achieving the product AND all of its
associated success criteria that I stated in Strand ii.
This is me writing down the plan of what I intend to do to complete my product. I am also making it explicitly clear
how each action made sure I met elements of my product goal and its associated success criteria stated in Strand ii.

Students are strongly advised to copy this table format. It is designed to make sure you score the maximum mark for
this strand of Criterion A. Students should note the amount of rows because this is the suggested amount to evidence
good planning. Students must make sure their plan is only the tasks/actions planned to achieve their product. This
plan is NOT an explanation of Personal Project report deadlines – do NOT fall into this trap. The plan is ONLY about
the tasks/actions done to achieve the product.
Next Step: Bibliography.
Use the Harvard referencing method. This will be the final written piece that you must create independently.
This will be submitted as a separate document. You should have this ready for submission with your
Criterion C. You can use this tool to generate references more easily: https://www.mybib.com/tools/harvardreferencing-generator or https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iueqJ78iAwk&t=139s to learn how to reference
independently.
A separate dropbox will be created for this.
Deadline for Bibliography: Friday 16th June 2022
End of guide.
