In the movie “Donald in Mathmagic Land” there are many examples of math in the world around us. Some of these
examples are simply observations of math – things in nature that contain mathematical relationships by design. For
example we will see that the growth of a nautilus shell occurs in a mathematical pattern. Other examples are
applications of math – humans applying their mathematical knowledge to compute, do, or make things. For
example we use math to compute the price per unit when grocery shopping or to build a birdhouse. While you are
watching the movie, take note of the Observations and Applications of math below. Be specific with your examples
please! You should have 5 – 10 in each column.
