BALINGIT, JUSTINE ADRIAN S. ME-202 I have learned a lot from the recollection that strengthened my Catholic faith. One can always have an identity but to have a faithful Catholic identity might be a challenge for others. But in order to become one, a person can achieve it by being holy, angelic and universal. Each and everyone of us are called to holiness. We can be holy by and through God. Also, holiness entails sacrifices. If we learn to sacrifice for the good and happiness of others, we are becoming a reflection of a member of God’s Kingdom who possesses holiness. In addition, we are also called to guide and protect others. We are called to guide one another through the path of God. Moreover, to be Catholic means to be universal. Despite our differences when it comes to our religious beliefs and religion, we are all called to become universal. Learning about these traits are the most important takeaways that I have gained from the recollection. I am one of the many people who sometimes feel that I am losing my identity. I feel like I do not know myself at times. When things do not go the way I planned them, it stresses me out that sometimes I am doubting myself. But because of the recollection, I learned that the greatest identity that I can forever treasure in my life is that I have a faithful Catholic identity. I am someone who can sacrifice everything for my loved ones. And I am one of those who are advocating to bring light and hope to the lives of others who are suffering. And lastly, I am one who acknowledges the beauty in diversity and believes that respect is what makes us universal. As I go over the recollection, I have realized also the importance of being kind to others. It was mentioned by the speaker during his discussion about being holy. I have realized that if we are only kind to others, even those who we do not personally know, we can always show what God’s love feels like. By being kind to others, we will make them feel that they belong here, in the Kingdom of God. Acts of kindness come in many forms, I realized if we can only be a little kinder each day, others will be able to experience God’s love.
