Scope
1.1
This specification defines the requirements for shop applications of cement
mortar lining to the internal surfaces of steel pipe. It includes materials, surface
preparation, application and testing.
1.2
Only shop applied, internal lining is covered. Coating external pipe surfaces or
field applications of lining are not in scope.
Conflicts and Deviations
2.1
Any conflicts between this specification and other applicable Saudi Aramco
Materials System Specifications (SAMSSs), Engineering Standards (SAESs),
Standard Drawings (SASDs), or industry standards, codes, and forms shall be
resolved in writing by the Company or Buyer Representative through the
Manager, Consulting Services Department of Saudi Aramco, Dhahran.
2.2
Direct all requests to deviate from this specification in writing to the Company
or Buyer Representative, who shall follow internal company procedure
SAEP-302 and forward such requests to the Manager, Consulting Services
Department of Saudi Aramco, Dhahran.

The following paragraph numbers refer to AWWA C205-95. Paragraph numbers not
appearing in AWWA C205-95 are new paragraphs to be inserted in numerical order.
4.1.4
Quality Program
(Addition) The Vendor shall implement and maintain a Quality Program
which shall include clearly defined and documented procedures for the
relevant Quality Systems functions. The Quality Program documents shall
be made available to the Purchaser's representative for review and audit.
4.2.1
(Exception) - Not applicable.
4.2.2.1
(Exception) Portland Cement - Delete in entirety.
(Addition) Portland Cement - Portland Cement shall conform to the
requirements of ASTM C150, Type V including the optional chemical
requirements of Table 1A and the optional physical requirements of Table 2A.

4.2.3
Fine Aggregate
(Exception) Sand shall be fine aggregate as defined in ASTM C136.
Deleterious substances shall not exceed the following limits:

Mixing Water
(Exception) Mixing water shall not contain more than 500 ppm of total
dissolved solids.
4.3.1
(Exception) Cleaning Surfaces - Delete in entirety.
(Addition) Cleaning Surfaces - All surfaces to be cement mortar lined shall
be cleaned in accordance with St2 of SIS-05-59-00 at the time of application
of the cement mortar.
4.4.2
Thickness
(Exception) Delete “... or as specified by the Purchaser” and “... and the
lining holdback shall be as specified by the Purchaser for the type of joint
required.”
4.4.2.1
(Addition) For sleeved pipe, there shall be no cutback. The cement mortar
lining shall be flush with the end of the pipe.
4.4.2.2
(Addition) For pipe that has been specifically designated for butt welding,
the cement mortar lining shall be cut back a minimum of 10 mm to a
maximum of 25 mm from the end of the pipe.
4.4.2.3
(Addition) The thickness of the cement lining shall be checked within 0.6m
of the end of the pipe at the 3, 6, 9, and 12 o'clock positions.
4.5
(Exception) Mortar Coating - Not applicable.
4.6
(Exception) Field Joints - Not applicable.

5.1
(Addition) The following tests shall be performed prior to and during lining.
This table shows the properties to be tested, the test method, the frequency
for testing and the acceptance criteria. The Buyer reserves the right to
require more frequent or additional test if these criteria are not met.

5.2
(Addition) Buyer reserves the right to obtain samples, of either the delivered
product or its constituent components, whichever the Buyer deems necessary
to verify compliance to any of the quality requirements stated in this
Specification.
5.3.1
Inspection
(Addition) The Vendor shall furnish all equipment and instruments needed
to perform inspections. The items manufactured to this Specification are
subject to verification by the Purchaser's Inspection Representative, per
Saudi Aramco Inspection Requirements Form 175-012500, attached to the
Purchase Order.
(Exception) Loading, and stacking during storage, transportation and
handling shall conform to 01-SAMSS-024. Calculations for static load
stress shall be based on the force caused by the mass of the pipe, W (lb/in or
N/M) including the weight of the cement mortar lining.
