ACKNOWLEDGEMENT
I want to use this medium to thank God for His unending love and
mercies upon my life. I lost a close friend of mine to the cold hands of
cultist engagements while i studied in Bayelsa state university. I was
next to leave the earth but God called me his own and delivered me.
I want to appreciate my parents for their training and guidance, much
honor to my mum. That woman is a legend. I love you mum.
I want to use this medium to appreciate my Luna, the person behind my
reason to writing this book on purpose.
To my best friend, Dona, I appreciate you for believing in me and your
ideas to how i should go with this book.
I want to also appreciate myself for the good work done. I started with
low motivation and the fear of been dejected but, I did it alas!
To all those who will be reading this book, I appreciate your efforts for
wanting to be phenomenal persons tomorrow.

FOREWORD
I spoke to a confidant of mine on what she has to say regarding , what
her purpose could be and her response, ‘I don’t know’ got me broken. I
sat back and thought on how young adults out there are living and
awaiting help because they don’t know what their purpose may be and I
made up my mind to write on it.
This book and many more to come, won’t be of much words to write but
one thing is sure, the purpose for writing them will be fulfilled which is
to free its readers from mediocrity and complacency.
Do well to read this book wholeheartedly and with the mindset that you
seek freedom from dormancy and simplicity. Remember, God told
Moses to pull of his shoes and drop his rod while he had an encounter
with the burning bush; this implies that to possess a new insight or
revelation from any encounter (with books or people) you ought to
disregard what you know and wear a flexible and open mind.
In this juncture, get ready to learn, unlearn and relearn in this journey
with me.
Let us RIDE.
5
CHPTER 1.
WHAT IS PURPOSE?
According to Longman dictionary of contemporary English, PURPOSE
means the reason to why a thing or person exists.
This definition of purpose, notifies us that every man and everything
created or made has a reason for been made. Let’s take some examples
for better enlightenment;
A fork is made as a cutlery for eating purpose, ideally for picking food.
A dog (German shepherd), was made for guard purposes and not to
ideally be a pet dog.
A Samoyed dog was made for pet purpose and not as a guard dog.
I gave more examples with the dog because of their place in our lives.
Besides, who doesn't like dogs?
Nevertheless, we should study further into the examples listed above; a
fork is ideally made for feeding but this same fork can be used to open a
padlock and can be used as a weapon of defense or offense in a fight. A
Samoyed dog is ideally made to serve for pet purpose but some
Samoyed owners expect a Samoyed to take the place of a guard and pet
dog.
From this explanation above, you can tell that everything has an ideal
purpose but can also serve in other zones. Please, note that although a
fork can be used as a padlock burgle tool, it is not relevant in that zone.
6
A key is relevant than a fork when it comes to the world of padlocks or
doors.
The misplacement of object purposes is a result of ignorance or the
curiosity to tryout new things. I wrote this book to educate and give
reasons to why you should never misplace purpose out of curiosity.
NOTE: Purpose is the intent or reason to why an object or person was
created.
WHY DOES PURPOSE EXIST?
1. To avoid abuse.
2. No one will fulfill your assignment with same magnitude and
effect as you.
3. Your greatness lies in the fulfillment of your purpose.
1. To avoid abuse;
Late God’s general, Dr. Myles Munroe said and I quote, ‘when purpose
is unknown or misplaced, abuse is inevitable’.
If you properly study and meditate on the quote above, you will come to
a balance with me that if the reason to why a thing created is unknown,
misuse is unavoidable.
Can we study the product, ‘internet?’
The internet is a computer network consisting of a worldwide network of
computers that use the TCP/IP network protocols to facilitate data
transmission and exchange.
7
This stated above is the purpose of the internet, to transmit and transfer
data but today, some persons use the internet for fraud purposes or as a
medium to propagate nudity and its vices. Can you vividly notice that
the acts known as an abuse are things done outside data transmission and
exchange.
The reason to why many young adults over the world are living as
wanderers and thwarts is because they have not discovered their purpose
of existence. Why will a young man in his teens or early twenties, watch
porn with his hard earned data when he’s aware that he was made to
preach the gospel? How will a lady who knows she was made to give
birth to a prophet or president engage in harlot activities and remove her
womb? All this self abuse and misplaced priorities are as a result of the
ignorance of purpose.
Conclusion: You need to know the purpose to why you are on earth,
your purpose in that family, in that relationship, in that school to avoid
abuse of any kind.
2. No one will fulfill your purpose with same magnitude and effect as
you;
In the place of purpose fulfillment, no one will do it as you would.
Let’s use our Lord Jesus Christ as a case study, imagine if he succeeded
in asking the father to take away the cup of saving the world from him,
will you be saved today? Will you have dominion today? This salvation
and dominion would have been possible but it will take the blood of
animals and many epic measures to possess them.
8
Imagine if we have no television, what would have served as a television?
A laptop or your cell phone? You can see that nothing takes the ideal
place of a television and that’s how we humans are.
Conclusion: No one will fulfill your purpose in same effect and
magnitude as you would.
3. Your greatness lies in the fulfillment of your purpose.
A lot of people keep asking, how will I be great? The answer lies in
your purpose. The earlier you discover and fulfill your own purpose,
the earlier you become great.
Ben of 10 years old is a gospel artist and he is great because he is
fulfilling purpose with the tools given to him. Bill gates is great today
because he is fulfilling his purpose on earth. Same with Mark
Zuckerberg and other great top leaders.
Conclusion: Jesus would have been known alone as the son of God
and not our savior if he didn't fulfill his purpose. On his way of
fulfilling his purpose, he possessed greatness even to the end.
HOW TO DISCOVER PURPOSE
In the write of the ‘what’ factor of purpose, I made it clear to us that
we can have one purpose or various purposes but all should point to
one assignment, ‘impacting positively into mankind and the kingdom
of God’.
9
If your purpose is beyond the horizon of impacting into humans, i.e.
making them better than how they used to be or even building the
kingdom, your purpose is unknown or rather corrupted.
Let us look at the fork story once more, a fork is made to pick food
for better and faster aid. A fork can also open a padlock but, there are
negative side effects to it, i.e. fork can get broken while opening a
padlock or even get you injured.
PURPOSE EQUATION
There is an ideal equation to purpose discovery, which I will be showing
you below but please remember, purpose has a lot to do with your
passion and ability/abilities.
Purpose Equation: Passion + Talent (Ability).
Terms explained;
PASSION: according to Wikipedia, passion is a feeling of intense
enthusiasm towards someone or something. It is that compelling
element within that drives you or pulls you toward someone or
something.
A secret I figured out from phenomenal men that existed and exists and
will still exist is the passion for what they do. I keep telling people that
to be great needs 70% discipline and 30% motivation because a point
will come in our lives when no motivational talk or quote will keep you
going, but discipline alone. Discipline only generates from one’s passion.
Let us study the life of Bishop David Oyedepo whom from the age of 16,
started his ministry where he co-founded a church with a partner in the
10
village he served at and till date, he still soars as an eagle and he is
strong and bold as forever. THAT IS THE POWER OF PASSION.
If Bishop David Oyedpo had no passion for what he was assigned to do,
he would not be great or phenomenal.
Conclusion: where there is no passion, you can’t soar. Matthew 6:21,
says, ‘where your treasure is, there will your heart be also’. The greatest
chefs, musicians, dancers, singers, and artists all have undying passion
for what they do.
“You can never know the source of my greatness until you know how
my heart beats (passion) for God. – Bishop David Oyedepo”.
TALENT
Talent is the raw potential that is given to every man on earth. It can be
called the tool to fulfill your assignment (purpose).
Matthew 25:14–30 (ESV): 14 “For it will be like a man going on a
journey, who called his servants and entrusted to them his property.
15 To one he gave five talents, to another two, to another one, to each
according to his ability. Then he went away. 16 He who had received the
five talents went at once and traded with them, and he made five talents
more. 17 So also he who had the two talents made two talents more.
18 But he who had received the one talent went and dug in the ground
and hid his master’s money. 19 Now after a long time the master of
those servants came and settled accounts with them. 20 And he who had
received the five talents came forward, bringing five talents more,
saying, ‘Master, you delivered to me five talents; here, I have made five
talents more.’ 21 His master said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful
servant. You have been faithful over a little; I will set you over much.
11
Enter into the joy of your master.’ 22 And he also who had the two
talents came forward, saying, ‘Master, you delivered to me two talents;
here, I have made two talents more.’ 23 His master said to him, ‘Well
done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a little; I
will set you over much. Enter into the joy of your master.’ 24 He also
who had received the one talent came forward, saying, ‘Master, I knew
you to be a hard man, reaping where you did not sow, and gathering
where you scattered no seed, 25 so I was afraid, and I went and hid your
talent in the ground. Here, you have what is yours.’ 26 But his master
answered him, ‘You wicked and slothful servant! You knew that I reap
where I have not sown and gather where I scattered no seed? 27 Then
you ought to have invested my money with the bankers, and at my
coming I should have received what was my own with interest. 28 So
take the talent from him and give it to him who has the ten talents.
29 For to everyone who has will more be given, and he will have an
abundance. But from the one who has not, even what he has will be
taken away. 30 And cast the worthless servant into the outer darkness. In
that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.’
From the scripture above we see that we are as the servants, who were
sent into this world by our master who is in a faraway country, and he is
expecting us to utilize that which he has given unto each and everyone
of us. Vs. 30 says, ‘Cast the worthless servant into the outer darkness’,
the worthless servant is the servant who has talents for a purpose and
will refuse to fulfill the task given to him because it is small or rather
unknown to the world. Listen to me, even if you were given the talent of
a carpenter, with the right SHIPS, you will get to the destination you
desire, but first, you have to know what you were given and where to
use it (in the place of passion).
12
Reading through the scripture above, you will see the scripture ‘he who
had five talents, went at once to trade his talents’. What that means is
that the servant converted his raw Talent to finished product (ability) and
began to serve people with it but the Bible said ‘immediately’. This
means that the master gave them talents according to their strength. Let
us study further
ABILITY ‘strength’
Longman dictionary explained ability as the state of being able to do
something.
Jtalks definition of ability is ‘the state of being able to do something and
do it excellently’.
A story was told in the holy book and it stated that ‘a master gave his
servants talents when he was traveling to a far country according to their
abilities.
Every man has his strength and weaknesses and this is nature at work.
Focus on your strengths, your abilities other than your weaknesses. We
should look deeply into what ability means:
Ability means Cultured/Groomed Talent;
A good number of us are talented, yes, no doubts. The big question is,
how well can you use your talent? There is a saying, ‘whatsoever you
find yourself doing, do it with all thy heart and might’. I.e. you can cook
and write, but you cook daily and barely write, whenever a task is
brought requiring the two abilities, you’d choose cooking. Why? That’s
because you have built your cooking ability as your strength. From the
example given above, you’d know that although writing is your talent, it
13
could be your weakness because you have not built it to be your ability.
No talent is and should be a waste, the master will ask for them at the
end. So, whilst cooking you should remember that you write too. In the
place of purpose, abilities matter. What can you do and do well?.
A little bit confused right? Follow me => You can cook and you can
write, this is what we all know as been multitalented. This can help you
fulfill different assignment. I earlier said ‘we have one or more purpose
to fulfill but it depends on our abilities’. God won’t give you a task
which he hasn't equipped you for.
Conclusion: Here’s a tip, that talent which you have discovered and
developed should be what you use in line with your passion.
CHAPTER 2.
PURPOSE DISCOVERY EXERCISE
Purpose Equation : Passion + Talent (Ability) = PURPOSE
I will be using myself to solve the equation properly, so, get a book and
a pen to solve through.
WHAT DO YOU HAVE PASSION FOR?
I have passion against mediocrity and poverty.
Yours can be passion against hunger , sicknesses, poverty, incompetent
dressing and much more.
14
WHAT TALENT DO I POSSESS?
I can write, talk, trade, sing, dance, cook, play the keyboard, i can think
too.
Yours could be drawing, trading, singing, cooking, baking, makeup,
fashion designing, etc.
WHICH IS MY STRENGTH ?
Talking and Writing.
Yours could be Cooking and trading or makeup and fashion designing or
baking and cooking.
Now, you can see above that i can dance and play the keyboard but it
does not tally with me impacting people for greatness and excellence so
i had to keep that aside.
In complete terms, i can say, ‘My purpose is to impact excellence and
greatness by talking and writing.
Your purpose could be to impact food to the hungry by cooking and
baking or impacting fashion sense to people by making them up and
becoming their fashion designer.
I can be called upon to play the keyboard for a ministry or an occasion
but that isn’t my Purpose!
It’s me making use of the present opportunity.
I can be called upon to think of a business idea for someone but that is
not my purpose.
It is me making use of the present opportunity.
15
So many a-times we thwart our purpose (assignment) with an
opportunity call because we are skilled to serve in that path and it is not
so!
I hope you solved through the equation and you got your answer.
CHAPTER 3:
SHIPS ARE USED FOR THE JOURNEY TO PURPOSE
To every journey, there are various means of transportation used.
Journeys of interstate movement can use the road and air transportation,
journeys of international movement deals with Road, Air and Sea.
The Journey to Purpose fulfillment has a-lot to do with the sea because
you can get drowned to never be seen again and can also sail safely to
your destination. I choose the sea to other journey mediums because on
the journey to purpose, goods weight matters, the amount of people you
keep around matters, the winds and storms of life are vital in leading you
safely to your destination. If you ever meet a sailor, ask him of what use
is the storm and mighty winds and he will tell you that this vices,
although can be deadly helps in accelerating their journey’s pace. With
less words spoken, let’s view the various kind of ships needed in the
journey to purpose fulfillment.
Purpose Ship Kinds;
It is vital for us to know that a yacht or a canoe cannot be compared with
a maxi built Casino if the journey is over Oceans and Seas. Why? They
all have their reasons for creation and anyone who will abuse or go
16
against the manual, will pay for it, and so is life. The ships in charge of
Purpose Fulfillment are;
(i)
(ii)
(iii)
(iv)
Friendship
Relationship
Mentorship
Fellowship
FRIENDSHIP;
Truth be told, no man can exist as an island and that is why when God
created Adam he made Eve, He gave them the ability to reproduce
offsprings of their kind and likeness.
You can’t exist alone. Please, i would recommend that you listen to ‘Gift
of Men’ by Apostle Joshua Selman.
What money can buy, friendship will buy it. There are criteria’s to
getting and making friends which are,
(i) Been Friendly.
(ii) Appreciate people.
(iii) Respect People and their Boundaries.
(iv) Avoid testing people, it doesn’t end well most of the times.
(v) Learn to Sacrifice. Sacrifice your food, money, resources and your
life if possible.
‘GREATER LOVE HATH NO MAN THAN THIS, THAN HE
SHOULD LAY DOWN HIS LIFE FOR HIS FRIENDS’
I want you reading this book to make Jesus your #1 friend before any
mortal man because men will leave you but Jesus and the Holy Spirit
will never ever leave you.
17
RELATIONSHIP;
This generation, we just venture into relationships because we want to
give it a try or have fun or see what it tastes like and believe me, so
many people have not been delivered from the negative aspects of
relationships because they went against the purpose aligned for it.
Relationships are meant to be for Marriage purposes. Do not get me
wrong, i am not saying you should not venture into a relationship but all
i am saying is, when you want to venture into any relationship, what you
should have in mind with that person is Marriage! Why on earth should
you be having fun with someone’s heart and body? Some things just
don’t sound excellent.
MENTORSHIP;
A mentor is a ‘Coach’. As simple as it is, a-lot of people still say they
don’t need a mentor or even find it needful to have one. This is because
they don’t have a proper knowledge of what mentorship entails. I will
explain on it below, let’s move.
Who is a Mentor?
A mentor is a Coach.
Let’s say you want to be a footballer, you need a football Coach and not
a Basketball or Tennis Coach.
Why do i need a Mentor?
1. A Mentor will make you see things from various perspectives: often
times we are caught up with our emotions, experience, knowledge and
18
environment and a mentor is detached from these things surrounding us.
So judge now, what will happen when you get a mentor.
2. A mentor will give you patience: when learning a new skill or
cultivating a new habit, a mentor will be there to coach you by keeping
you disciplined to tasks and will also help you move on after every
failure you might experience.
3. A mentor will accelerate you to success.
Where do i get a Mentor?
On the journey to getting a mentor, you must be sure to know where
you’re going to, that is what you need a mentor for. You cannot be in
need of financial coaching and you get a fashion designing mentor, that
is absurd. What do you need a mentor for is the first question to ask
yourself, otherwise, your coach may not take you serious.
There are 2 kinds of Mentors;
1. The mentors who you come across with in your everyday life. It could
be your parents, best pals, and even your pet. (Hands-On Mentors)
2. The mentors who you cannot access physically but you can read their
books, listen to their tapes, watch their videos and even follow them on
social media platforms. These mentors can be your role model too.
(Hero/Shero Mentor).
3. The mentors who you meet with accidentally or coincidentally. It
could be your athlete coach or your lecturer etc. (Serendipitous Mentors).
In all you do in life, remember that you need leverages. Which could be;
1. Other People’s Money (O.P.M).
2. Other people’s Ideas (O.P.I).
3. Other people’s Time (O.P.T).
4. Other people’s Word/Work (O.P.W).
19
5. Other people’s Experience (O.P.E).
