E. Lesson Proper
Parallelogram- is a quadrilateral with two pairs of opposite sides that
are parallel.
A. Discussing new Concepts and Practicing New Skills # 1
Below is a parallelogram MATH.

1. GIVEN: MA= (2x-6) cm, AT= (3y-5) cm, TH= (x+8) cm and
MH=(2y+8) cm. What is the value of x?
Step 1: Two pairs of opposite sides of parallelogram are
congruent. Hence MA≅TH. Then, MA= TH.
Step 2: Substitute 2x-6 for MA and x+8 for TH.
2x-6=x+8
2x-x= 8+6
x=14
The value of x is 14.
a. How long is MA?
Substitute the value of x to MA= 2x-6
MA= 2x-6
MA= 2(14)
MA= 28
The value of AMA is 28 cm.
b. What is the value of y?
Step 1: Two pairs of opposite sides of parallelogram are
congruent. Hence AT≅MH. Then, AT= MH
Step 2: Substitute 3y-5 for AT and 2y+8 for MH.
3y-5 = 2y+8
3y-2y= 8+5
y=13
The value of y is 13cm.
c. How long is MH?
Substitute the value of y to MH= 2y+8
MH= 2y+8
MH= 2(13)+8
MH= 26+8
MH=34
The value of MH is 34 cm.
B. Discussing new Concepts and Practicing New Skills # 2
Refer to the parallelogram ABCD above and answer the
questions that follow.
1.∠AMH measures (4a+10) ˚ while ∠ATH measures (5a-15) ˚.
a. What is the value of a?
b. What is m ∠AMH?
c. What is m ∠TAM?
Questions:
How did you find the value of a?
What property did you apply to solve for m∠TAM?
2. Diagonals MT and AH meet at E. HE is 10cm and MT is 14cm.
a. How long ids AH?
b. How long is ME?
Questions:
How did you solve for the lengths of AH and AE?
What property did you apply?
C. Developing mastery/Guided practice
•The teacher divide the learners into 5 groups
•Each group will be given a worksheet
• They will be given 10 minutes to finish the activity.
