- Final Oral Exam tasks.
(15%)
(Interactions – Chapters: 1 - 7)
Indications:
Be prepared for all of these tasks, you’ll be asked to present only one of them. (8 to 10 minutes
conversation).
➔ Good use of vocabulary, grammar, content, coherence, fluency,
and pronunciation will be evaluated.
1. Talk about different ‘HEALTH PROBLEMS’.
ROLE PLAY ‘different conversations’ to ask for and give advice.
Example: I have a terrible backache! What do you recommend?
–Use: IMPERATIVES (affirmative and negative) to give recommendations.
Also use: Take / Drink / Put on / Go to …/ Don’t exercise… / Don’t watch T.V a lot … / etc.),
additionally use ‘should’, ‘-why don’t you…’, ‘it’s a good idea to…’ etc.
Make sure you give different recommendations : use name of medicines, home
remedies, alternative medicine, and good suggestions (verbs).
2. Talk about events, accidents, and accomplishes in your life, or someone you know. Or tell a
short story about something that happened to you, something funny, interesting, or scary.
Interact asking and answering about it. Remember you have to show interest.
-Use: the past continuous and the simple past tense to tell and explain your stories. Also
use when, while. Try to use adverbs to connect your sentences: suddenly, luckily, etc.
3. Role-play a conversation where you and your partner(s) are waiting for a train/bus and you
don’t know each other(s). Be friendly and start a small talk. Talk about different situations
[unimportant ones]. Use ‘Tag questions’ to interact.
Example of situations: the weather, health, occupations, habits, the city you live in,
recreation, family, interests, culture, etc. provide the real possible situation and give a result
according to your own beliefs. Show interest in the others’ comments.
4. Role-play a conversation in which one of you is from Costa Rica and the other is a
foreigner.
Ask and answer question about the most important things to know about Costa Rica, before
coming here (both positive and negative aspects). Discuss our culture, clothing, values,
communication, customs, family, relationships, education, entertainment, religion, greetings,
attending a party vs business meetings, customs, etc. –Use: have to (‘ve got to) can / can’t,
should, it’s polite/ impolite…/ it’s customary…/ it’s appropriate / inappropriate… / etc., in
context.
5. Talk about different and interesting countries, (except Costa Rica) that you recommend
going to. Ask and answer question about the most important things to do and to know about
these countries, before visiting them. Talk about cultural differences, clothing, values,
communication, customs, family, relationships, education, transportation, entertainment,
religion, greetings, attending parties vs business meetings, customs, body language and
gestures, celebrations, food, etc. Make sure you mention different countries, not the one you
presented about in class.

Use: have to (‘ve got to) can / can’t, should, it’s polite/ impolite…/ it’s appropriate /
inappropriate… / it’s customary / etc., in context.
6. Talk about different JOBS and occupations. Ask each other questions about the ‘different
jobs’ you know and like. Give your opinions about different professions (your favorite ones)
and explain their responsibilities.
Use expressions such as: I think I’d be good at working as a [occupation] because…
I wouldn’t be good at working long hours, it seems very tiring. - Etc.
