Abstract Recording lectures: Why is it necessary? Tertiary students are expecting an enhanced learning and teaching experience using new technologies. Currently, lecturers are encouraged to integrate education technologies to enhance learning and teaching via concepts such as e-learning, blended learning and flipped classroom. But the question remains at Monash University Malaysia, "Are we ready to record our lectures and use them to support learning?” Although recording lectures is highly controversial, there are numerous reasons why it should be done to enhance students' learning experience. In this session, the discussion will focus on staff perceptions and views on lecture recording, the technological capacity to record lectures and strategies to support student learning. Discussion questions a) What are your perceptions on lecture recording? b) What are your views on the technological capacity to record lectures? c) What strategies (new technology) have you used to support student learning? Biography Regina Chan is Learning Skills Adviser at Monash University Malaysia. She has been in the higher education industry since 2001. She obtained her Bachelor in Teaching English as a Second Language (Hons.) from the University of Southampton, United Kingdom and Master in Education Administration from the University of Malaya, Malaysia.
