EMPOWERMENT TECHNOLOGY
What Is It?
Activity 1
1. A CONSPIRACY BROUGHT TO YOU BY BIG PHARMA
Spreading fake news is dangerous in today’s era, especially when we
currently face endless nightmares. This detail is indeed fake for me, it is because
as I have observed during the Pandemic, our government gave us the correct
vaccine which we saw on television and any social media platforms. The
vaccines were not hidden and were given to all citizens who want to be
vaccinated. Therefore everyone gets the chance to be fully vaccinated, the
government also has boosters which proves us that vaccines for COVID-19 were
not hidden and nobody gains profit from it.
2. TEMPERATURE AS A CURE
There is no reason to believe that cold weather can kill the new
coronavirus or other diseases. The normal human body temperature remains
around 36.5°C to 37°C, regardless of the external temperature or weather. For
me, the most effective way to protect yourself against the new coronavirus is by
frequently cleaning your hands with alcohol-based hand rub or washing them
with soap and water. Knowing that our body temperature could not exceed its
limits nor decrease abruptly, helps us to understand that temperature is not a
cure for any illness.
Activity 2
1. The advocacy in my professional track that I have supported are letters to
editors, Radio and TV interviews as the use of websites, blogs, and social media.
I showed my support by reacting to the post that they posted on any social
media platforms and by following their facebook page. They also got and
youtube channel which is why I subscribed and continue to show good
feedbacks in accordance with their videos.
2. From what I have learned, ICT gives us a positive and negative effect, just like
a double edge sword. Our communication today is way better than before but
sometimes using gadgets too much makes us unable to do physical activities. In
education, ICT will empower teachers and students with their everyday tasks.
3. The change brought by the ICT has enabled people to send messages
instantly unlike before in which sending a message would really take some
significant time and effort. Additionally, people can now talk through chats and
emails regardless of the distant locations through phone calls. It gives us the
opportunity to share our opinion with far wider audiences. Therefore I believe
that ICT really made a great impact when it comes to communicating.

ENVIRONMENTAL POLLUTION AND ITS SOLUTION
Pollution is the introduction of harmful materials into the environment and
these harmful materials are called pollutants. Pollutants can be natural, such
as volcanic ash. They can also be created by human activity, such as trash
or runoff produced by factories. Pollutants damage the quality of air, water, and
land. If we observe our surroundings pollution is everywhere and is also a global
problem. Although urban areas are usually more polluted than the countryside,
pollution can spread to remote places where no people live, which is why we
have to take action on this matter.
The first way to reduce pollution as a student is by practicing the 3Rs
concept namely reduce, reuse, and recycle. Everyone should reduce the usage
of air-conditioners as it will release harmful gases, for instant ozone-depleting
chlorofluorocarbons which will result in reducing air pollution. One may make no
difference, but when carried out together, massive changes can be made.
Moving on, reuse reusable items like plastic bags, bottles, boxes and more is also
one of the way to reduce pollution, For example, instead of throwing away a
worn out tire, it can be used as a plantation plot. The next way to reduce
pollution is to recycle recyclable items such as glass, cans, and newspapers. The
recycled newspapers can be reproduced as toilet papers which will reduce
extra waste on earth indirectly contributing in reducing land pollutions.
Another way to reduce pollution on earth is to create awareness among
the citizens. As citizens in this world, we must share awareness in pollution. We
must do advocacies or campaigns that would help our environment clean and
green. A lot of people don’t know the effects of throwing garbage anywhere so
we must help them. Putting some signs everywhere is a good help in order to
maintain the cleanliness of our society. Joining in a tree planting will also make a
good contribution in reducing air pollutants, therefore we must engage in doing
this activity.
There are many ways to reduce pollution on earth namely practicing the
3Rs concept and creating awareness among citizens which will help create a
better environment for the benefit of both mankind and our mother earth. There
are lots of things a student can do in order to maintain cleanliness in our
environment. Not only them, but adults can also be a contributor to this change.
Therefore, we should buck up our shoes and be ready to reduce pollution in
everything we do and anywhere we go for a better future ahead of us.

Reflection Paper
The term ICT simplified means any technology that has to do with
information and communication. Information can come in many forms such as
sound, video, text, and images, so when you think of what technology it is
available that produces these aspects of information and sometimes a
combination of all these, we refer to such technology as mobile phones, digital
cameras, video cameras for example. ICT has invaded and transformed many
aspects of our lives to the extent that we live in an environment that is
dominated by technology which itself is consumer-driven. No matter how we
perceive its presence, there is no denying that it is an important part of our lives
and that it is here to stay. As I answer this module I have learned various things
about ICT and let me share some of them to you but first we need to know the
good effects of ICT to all the students.
The presence of ICT in education allows for new ways of learning for
students and teachers. E-learning or online learning is becoming increasingly
popular and with various unprecedented events taking place in our lives, this
does not only open opportunities for schools to ensure that students have
access to curriculum materials whilst in the classroom but also allows them to
ensure students outside the classroom such as at home or even in hospitals can
learn. One of the key skills for the 21st century which includes evaluating,
planning, monitoring, and reflecting to name a few. The effective use of ICT in
education demands skills such as explaining and justifying the use of ICT in
producing solutions to problems. Students need to discuss, test, and conjecture
the various strategies that they will use. When ICT is integrated into lessons,
students become more engaged in their work. This is because technology
provides different opportunities to make it more fun and enjoyable in terms of
teaching the same things in different ways. As a consequence of this increased
engagement, it is said that they will be able to retain knowledge more
effectively and efficiently.
As a student, ICT is indeed a great help to learning. It has introduced the
easiest way of learning and teaching for both students and teachers. It also
helps me to easily access information whenever we have an assignment or a
research paper to do, which is really convenient because it saves me a lot of
time. Thanks to ICT, I can easily get information about the topics I need, which
are more detailed, accurate, and reliable. Nowadays, we also use a smart
televisions in our classroom to discuss the work with the whole class in a
convenient and efficient way. Although ICT has several advantages, it also has
some disadvantages. Nowadays, people tend to rely on the Internet too much
that they believe on everything that is written on the web page, which also
made way for fake news to spread faster. There are also cases of cyberbullying
and online scamming because people tend to use the internet more often than
ever.
In my opinion, I feel as if ICT is developing too fast for the world today and
people are relying too much on it. Compared to last century when we didn’t
have this, crime rates were down as well as families and friends were more social
in person rather than in today’s society in which we communicate over
networks. On the other hand, I think that technology has greatly helped the
world and its development as it indeed made our lives easier and more
productive.
