TYPES OF SPORTS AND ITS NATURE Individual Sport- individual sports are sports that participants conduct without a team. The concepts of external and intrinsic motivation are highly applicable to these sports. Bowling, also called tenpins, game in which a heavy ball is rolled down a long, narrow lane toward a group of objects known as pins, the aim being to knock down more pins than an opponent. Bowling Golf, a cross-country game in which a player strikes a small ball with various clubs from a series of starting points (teeing grounds) into a series of holes on a course. The player who holes his ball in the fewest strokes wins. Golf Dual Sports- dual sports are played by two people opposing each other, whereas team sports involve organized groups of people competing against each other. Many sports rely on goals, which are points scored in soccer, lacrosse and floor hockey, while other sports rely on points with a touchdown, runs or falls. Badminton is a racket sport played by either two opposing players (singles) or two opposing pairs (doubles), who take positions on opposite halves of a rectangular court that is divided by a net. Badminton It is a martial art characterized by the use of “swinging and twirling movements, accompanied by striking, thrusting and parrying techniques for defense and offense.” Arnis Team sport-includes any sport where individuals are organized into opposing teams which compete to win or cooperate to entertain their audience. The object of the game is to score more points than your opponent. The ball is passed, thrown, bounced, batted, or rolled from one player to another. Basketball Football is played in accordance with a set of rules, known as the Laws of the Game. The game is played using a single round ball (the football) and two teams of eleven players each compete to get the ball into the other team's goal, thereby scoring a goal. Football Reflection By playing a sport, you can achieve good heart health. As we all know, having a healthy heart is a key to living a long and happy life. Sports and exercise are also important for boosting one's mood and preventing depression. They not only play an important role in our physical health, but our mental health as well. Participating in either team or individual sports provides an excellent opportunity for students to improve their health and stay in shape. Sports also improve agility, endurance, hand-eye coordination and fine and gross motor skills. I believe everyone should play a team sport. I joined my first team sport at the age of five, and I’m still competing in them to this day. Over my career I’ve learned many valuable life lessons as well as picked up many skills. Sports are a great way to get outside and enjoy the world around us while learning some valuable skills.
