Write about an outdoor activity ruined by bad weather. There was so much excitement in the air it was palpable. A swarm of children rushed into the park the moment its gates opened. The sun hung high in the sky like a light bulb. A gentle breeze carried the sound of boisterous laughter and terrified screams through the fairgrounds. The delectable aroma of sugary cotton candy and savoury popcorn permeated the air. Dazzling lights shone bright despite the blazing sun. Its intense rays heated up the air. Ice cream melted almost instantly under the sweltering heat. However, things quickly took an ominous turn. Grumpy clouds coalesced menacingly above the horizon, steadily marching towards the carnival. With the earth as the bed, they gathered above the carnival like a thick blanket. The wind billowed violently, tossing and turning tables in its wake. Like a tumbleweed, parasols flipped and started to roll. A frigid gale hit me and caused me to shiver uncontrollably. The once fiery sun was nowhere to be seen, and was all replaced by grey. Just when I thought it couldn’t get worse, the floodgates of heaven opened. A titanic fleet of raindrops plummeted towards the ground like water bursting out of a dam. The once thirsty ground was now on the verge of drowning in the unrelenting storm. Children and adults alike were scrambling about like headless chickens, trying to seek refuge under any type of shelter. To say this was chaotic was an understatement. After a grueling hour or so. The rain finally let up, an aperture formed in the middle of the shroud in the sky. It slowly expanded, revealing the sun yet again. Visible light rays could be seen shining down illuminating the mist. I saw a spectrum of colours draw out from the horizon. It was a rainbow. People withdrew from their ‘shelters’ in awe of the beautiful sight before them. It was truly a sight worth the suffering.
