Academic Skills Battery (ASB) Composite
The Academic Skills Battery Composite consists of the following six subtests: Math Concepts and
Applications, Letter and Word Recognition, Written Expression, Math Computation, Spelling, and
Reading Comprehension. The scores from these subtests provide a measure of overall academic
achievement in reading, math and written language. STUNAME’s overall academic performance, as

measured by the Academic Skills Battery Composite (SS=103) was within the Average range when
compared to peers of the same age.
Reading Composite
The Reading Composite provides a comprehensive measure of reading, which includes reading sight
words, unpredictable word patterns and reading comprehension of literal and inferential information.
STUNAME’s overall reading performance, as measured by the Reading Composite (SS=64) was within
the Low range when compared to peers of the same age. His performance was measured by the Letter &
Word Recognition test (SS=52) and the Reading Comprehension test (SS=80).
Mathematics Composite
The Mathematics Composite provides a comprehensive measure of mathematic achievement including
problem solving ability and computational skills. STUNAME’s overall math performance, as measured
by the Mathematics Composite (SS=105) was within the Average range when compared to peers of the
same age. His performance was measured by the Math Concepts & Application test (SS=143) and the
Math Computation test (SS=155).
Written Language Composite
The Written Language Composite provides a comprehensive measure of written language achievement,
including sound discrimination by segmentation, sequencing and decoding words. STUNAME’s overall
written language performance, as measured by the Written Language Composite (SS=94) was within
the Average range when compared to peers of the same age. His performance was measured by the

Description
The child counts the exact number of blocks in various
pictures of stacks of blocks; the stacks are configured such
that one or more blocks is hidden or partially hidden from
view.
The child is shown a row of pictures that tell a story, but
some of the pictures are missing. The child is given a set of
pictures where they select only the ones that are needed to
complete the story and places the missing pictures in their
correct location.
The child is shown a series of stimuli that form a logical,
linear pattern, but one stimulus is missing; the child
completes the pattern by selecting the correct stimulus
from an array of four to six options at the bottom of the
page.
The child assembles several identical foam triangles (blue
on one side, yellow on the other) to match a picture of an
abstract design; for easier items, the child assembles a set
of colorful plastic shapes to match a model constructed by
the examiner or shown on the easel.
The child copies the examiner’s precise sequence of taps
on the table with the fist, palm, or side of the hand.
The child reads symbols, words, sentences, and passages
appropriate to his or her grade level, and then responds to
comprehension questions.
