Field informatics introduces various technical information related t o mechanical engineering from a field-oriented perspective. The p urpose of this course is to understand these contents and to acqu ire "basic modeling and analysis skills" and "coherent and logical th inking ability". Objectives The goal of Field informatics is that students acquire “fundamental skills in modeling/analysis” and “sound rea soning and scientific-communication skills.” Students are requested to think by themselves to understand ho w to analyze problems in real field. before/after Assigned work before class: Carefully read and understand documents on the Waseda Moodle. Assigned wor course of study k before class will take around 90 minutes. Assigned work after class: Examine the materials and results of the previous class to clarify everything you s hould understand. Prepare reports if assigned in the previous class. Textbooks Learning materials will be provided in the course. Evaluation The goal of this course, “practical skills related to the expertise in mechanical engineering” and “sound reason ing and scientific-communication skills,” is evaluated by the following methods: in-class contribution and home work (80%) and term-end examination (20%). Students are requested to attend at least 6 classes. If not, they will automatically receive a failing (F) grade.
