A. Sort out the testimonies and write a short summary of the relevant facts.
Note: Proceed to write your answer --On the evening of June 12, in the Province of Batangas, Barrio Talaan. Julia Torres,
18 years old, single, was allegedly raped by one Ronald Galang, 20 years old, single and
both residents of Barrio Talaan, Batangas.
Julia and Ronald allegedly went to the house of Cecilia that night because there is
a wedding party. According to Ronald, after a few jokes of his friends towards him, Julia
was offended and walked out of the party.
After the wedding party, Julia went home alone but Ronald accompanied him to
walk and explained the bad jokes his friends told her. Afterwards, they sat on a log near
the house of Marrio and they reconciled, which led to the point where they made love on
the grass.
However, Julia has a different story, she was allegedly surprised by Ronald while
walking home alone that night after the wedding party. Allegedly, Ronald threatened Julia
and pointed a knife on her side. Because of this, the rape went on and Julia feared for
her life.
Julia did not talk to anyone about the incident. She was scared that there would
be troubles within her family if they would find out that she was raped. But 2 days after,
Julia told her aunt about the incident, and in turn, her aunt told Julia’s family. This
prompted Julia to go and file a complaint to the police station and submit herself for
medical examination.
On the trial, the medical examiner, Dr. Amado Ampil, testified that he prepared a
medical report for Julia which indicated that Julia has 2 days old laceration posterior
portion without any other injuries from the reported incident.
Another witness was presented which is Marrio. He testified that he did not hear
any outcry near his house, and he stayed up late that night because he is attending to
his sick daughter.
B. Write the events in the order of their occurrence.

Julia went to Cecilia’s party on June 12 at around 7 o’clock in the evening at Barrio
Talaan, Batangas. At the party, Ronald allegedly wants to talk with Julia, but the latter
dislikes him so much and she just ignored him.
At around 11 o’clock in the evening, Julia decided to leave the party and walk
alone in the moonlight, she decided to take a short cut on her way home. When Julia
reached 50 meters near the house of Maria, she was surprised by Ronald and insisted on
walking her home. Julia declined, but this triggered Ronald to wrestle with her in a rough
and dry ground. Ronald allegedly covered Julia’s mouth and pointed a knife on her side
while raping her.
Julia was scared of her life that she did not bother to tell her family about it. She
is afraid that if her family member would found out about the rape, there would be
troubles that will happen later on.
However, two days thereafter, Julia finally told her aunt about the rape incident.
Her aunt in turn, told her family about it. Julia’s family was furious and this prompted
Julia to go to the police station and file a complaint against Ronald Galang for the crime
of rape. Julia also submitted herself for medical examination after filing the complaint.
Ronald’s Testimony (Defense of the accused):
Ronald and Julia were sweethearts for about 2 months. On June 12, they went to
Cecilia’s House to attend a wedding party. Ronald’s friends made jokes about him that
made Julia upset. So when they both decided to leave the party that night, Ronald insisted
on walking Julia on their way home.
Julia did not want to believe and listen to Ronald’s explanation. When they were
nearing the house of Marrio, they sat on over a piece of log and talked with each other.
Later, they reconciled and kissed each other, and they made love on the grass. Julia
allegedly consented on doing this even though she was bleeding, allegedly Julia was still
a virgin that night.
The next day, Julia allegedly called Ronald, telling him that they should get married
because she might get pregnant because of their making love. Ronald declined because
he explained that he have to take care of his parents first before having his own family.
This made Julia angry, and she threatened Ronald that she will file a complaint for rape
if he did not agree to marry her. Ronald still refused and this prompted Julia to finally file
a case against Ronald.
