UIC Freshmen's Survival Tips
Songdo Dorm
Finally open after two years, Songdo Dormitory is now home to
most first-year students, and let's discover some survival tips
from a 21 UIC student who has spent her entire 2021 there.
Cafeteria
- Y-Plaza (나눌샘)
- Dorm 2
First time living far away from your family
and your mom's cooking?
Don't worry; cafeterias will serve as your
mother away from home, with various
lunch and dinner selections from
Asian and Western to American cuisine!
Printing shop
Y-Plaza
Need printing your documents or
class materials?
Take a few steps at Y-Plaza to find a
printing shop with reasonable prices.
Kitchen
Dorm 2, Buil. F, 5F
Where your inner Masterchef shines.
Songdo kitchen is where taste-like-home
meals are prepared and acts as a
culinary, cultural exchange center with
different food from all around the world,
making you feel like you are in
MasterChef.
Laundry room
Dorm 2, Buil. G, 5F
A hot place during weekends, where the
lines can be as long as those for a concert.
You must buy a laundry card from the
machine and remember to top it up before
using it.
Chicken Stairs
Dorm 2, 1F
When in Songdo, eating chicken with
friends at Chicken Stair is a must.
The stairs are home to many
students who procrastinate on their
homework, celebrate, or spend time
with friends.
