TASK: Write an essay and discuss the similarities and differences between your life in high school and university. University is a new beginning and like any new start it can be scary or anxious. For me it is not scary but it is anxious due to being a freshman. How does our brain decide to get scared or nervous when we join a new environment? It looks at similarities to calm us down and notices differences therefore it gets scared. At least it is what happened to me when I came to university from high school. So if some university sections build like highschools or teachers and seniors are kind and friendly for freshmans it can be easier for them. To begin with, there are some similarities between high schools and universities. First one is social activities for meet some interesting people and obviously socialising. Social activities are similar but in high school the head of the activity or club is some teacher on the other hand in universities the head of the club is some student, mostly seniors. Another common thing between high school and university is opportunities for improve yourself. You can do a science project for some contest. In this way, you can earn money and maybe meet some people that are useful for your future self. Last but not least in high school and university you have a lot of time to spend. These times are very important and never going to come back. So, these times are perfect for learning a new language, a new instrument etc. Despite similarities, there are few differences between these two places. Main difference is in university life you have to take responsibility for your actions in contrast to high school. Because universities have another purpose is make you ready for life in addition to your dream job. Another difference is in high school you supervisor manage your time but in university you manage your own time. For example, in high school usually parents or teachers says you to do your homework or study your lessons yet it all changes in university due to your age and expectations from you. As a result, in university you have your life on your hands however it may result very badly. In conclusion, differences like taking responsibilities may be scary but maybe you can relax with new hobbies or socialise. I think making new friends is the most common and useful way for get used to the new environment.
