While the Operational Cleaning is carried out after every leg flown, the extensive detailed Basic Cleaning takes place after a set amount of flight hours (Cont A/C every 500 flight hours; Intercont a/c every 800 to 1000 flight hours by LHT or a subcontractor). Basic Cleaning is performed by different providers at the stations. In 2014 Basic Cleaning Light will be introduced in FRA and MUC for Intercont A/C and will take place between two Basic Cleaning events, i.e. after 500 flight hours. The contents of this Cabin Cleaning Manual refer to the Operational Cabin Cleaning and are applicable for all stations with local cleaning and their providers. 2 Introduction The Cabin Cleaning Manual gives all stations a consolidated overview of established operational cleaning procedures and standards and is intended to support the stations with the preparation of new procedures. At the beginning of the manual you will find general information about the licensed cleaning liquids, the equipment and general guidelines to the cleaning companies. In the next chapters you will find information about the Cont and Intercont Cleaning concept, as well as detailed job cards to every cleaning type / to every cleaning area, as well as specials for the different aircraft types. The Cabin Cleaning Manual specifies all qualitative demands on the cleaning performance at the stations. 3 General information The following chapter gives an overview of the cleaning materials approved for Operational Cabin Cleaning as well as the cabin cleaning equipment. Furthermore, a summary of the general guidelines for the cleaning companies is included. Make sure that cleaning is finished and cleaning personnel has left the aircraft before passengers are boarding. Make sure that the start of boarding and the departure are not delayed (according to the defined Lufthansa Minimum Ground Time). If the aircraft is in such a condition that it is not advisable to board passengers, make sure to agree with the Commander, the Purser and the Operations Supervisor upon how to organize the activities in a way to minimize the delay. Take care that emergency exits or pathways are not blocked by cleaning equipment or debris. First Class Bar Unit: this is a highly sensitive area. Do not deposit any cleaning equipment or waste here and refrain from using the unit as a writing area, e.g. for filling in forms or lists. Marks and scratches must be avoided. Ensure that items containing liquids in open containers (e.g. buckets) are always to be placed outside the aircraft (in the jet way / on passenger stairs). If liquids are used for cleaning inside the aircraft, liquids must always be used with care and in very limited amounts. Never pour liquids on to the aircraft floor for wiping. Cleaning of the cockpit should be supervised by the cockpit crew, supervisory staff of Lufthansa or of the handling agent, respectively, all the time.
