Republic of the Philippines Department of Education Region VII, Central Visayas Division of Lapu-Lapu City District V MARIGONDON NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL DEPARTMENT Marigondon, Lapu-Lapu City S.Y. 2021-2022 NARRATIVE ON THE CONDUCT OF CAREER GUIDANCE CULMINATION A POST IMMERSION ACTIVITY FOR GRADE 12 S.Y. 2021-2022 By: MRS. ANALYN B. YONZON (SHS Guidance Advocate) The implementation of the Career Guidance Program (CGP) for Grade 11 & 12 is highly required by the Department of Education. • As stipulated in the DepEd Memo #165 series of 2017, this program aims to apply decision making skills to career planning course selection and career transitions and let the students realize that the changing workplace requires lifelong learning and acquiring new skills. However, due to the onset of the new normal way of education as the result of the pandemic the program is shaken by the different challenges one could not think about. Relative to these objectives Career Coaching is the key for its realization; as defined Career Coaching is a process of helping another individual realize their inner potential, delivering fulfillment to both the individual and the organization; It is about supporting people and helping them to identify their opportunities and then supporting them while they go after their goals. All class advisers were tapped to realize the program with the activities given to students as supplement. It is for this purpose that the CGP Culmination - a Post Immersion activity is scheduled at the covered court on June 15, 2022, Wednesday which is subdivided into two parts. In the morning, the grade 12 students were exposed to different talks that could help hone their own capabilities in facing their chosen exit after Senior HS graduation may it be Employment, College Education, Entrepreneurship and Middle Level Skills Development. The following talks were structured as targeted; 1. SHS Curriculum exits by the Guidance Advocate, Mrs. Analyn B. Yonzon, 2. How to Ace an interview by the English teachers in our department; Mrs. Lea Fe P. Garcenila and Mr. Lester Potot; tips also were given on 4. How to pass any test may it be employment or college education by a DOST scholar and one of the faculty, Mr. Edilberto Dejos Jr., 5. Proper Grooming and Appearance by one of our master teachers, Mrs. Lina Charlyn M. Astorga and about character development for the students who are about to face the world of work discussed by Mrs. Emalinda M. Guanizon, an SHS Teacher III. On one hand, the reflections from the selected immersionists from different specializations; General Academic Strand (GAS) Mr. John Flex Singculan 12-Sujero, Home Economics- Ms. Milky Ebales 12-Wahing, Industrial Arts-Mr. Ced Ngujo 12-Ubas had made the students be heard on their school-based immersion program. Meanwhile, the campaigns from the representatives of these invited colleges and universities (Indiana Aerospace University, University of Cebu, Lapu-Lapu Cebu International College, Rizwoods Colleges, Benedicto College and ACLC) shed light also to the students who were planning to take college education as their exit In the afternoon, the students were given the taste of the Mock Job Interview by answering the job interview questions from the senior high school teachers who were assigned as interviewers. The topics from the morning session is applied by the students in the afternoons’ activity. Kudos to all the students who have exemplified themselves to pass the mock job interview and to the interviewers who have given their time and expertise to the students. The realization of the Career guidance program in the senior high school department was in the hands of the collaboration of all the class advisers in its full implementation. As such different experiences were encountered as the teachers embarked as Career coaches to their students. Mrs. Analyn B. Yonzon, SHS-Guidance coordinator had delivered all the necessary assistance she could give to all the class advisers before the onset of its implementation. The inspiring message of Dr. Norman O. Ongco (EPS, ESP and Career Guidance) with full support of the SHS Principal II, Mrs. Lina M. Maiso had made the activity even more successful. Kudos also to the craftsmanship of Sir Fritz O. Marata, Jin Jin D. Andales, Mrs. Lea Fe P. Garcenila Mrs. Saudi Marie A. Bonghanoy, Mr. Bryan Y. Ymbong, Mrs. Lilibeth A. Lapatha and the chairpersons of the different committees and all others who have shown active cooperation, the Grade 12 class advisers, Master Teachers, Grade 11 teachers and special mention to selected students who have supported the event namely; Ms. Jannah Englatiera, Ms. Claire Lumales, Ms. Trixie Mae Eboa and Mr. Lito Mangubat Jr. Who have made the event run smoothly as it was; and of course the spontaneity of the emcees, Mr. Tristan Amistad and Ms. Karolyn Anne N. Mantos have made the smooth and successful culmination program. Indeed Career development goals set for the students is such a tedious yet fulfilling task. It was a reality of the framework as stated by Gibson (2003) in his book “Introduction to Counselling and Guidance” stipulated “Students must be assisted in developing adequate understanding of themselves and must be prepared to relate this understanding to both social-personal development and career-educational planning”. These understandings are significant in the fulfillment of the individual’s need for self-actualization. Needless to say, the senior high department has exerted much effort just to make the students be assisted in developing the maturity necessary for making effective career decisions and entering the different exits as they embark their Senior high school journey equipped with information and drive.
