FIRST VIDEO: The brain-changing benefits of exercise | Wendy Suzuki https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BHY0FxzoKZE&feature=youtu.be Reflection: I realized the significance of exercising is not just found physically but also in the mind as well. It increases better mood, enhances focus, and hinders chronological diseases such dementia, Alzheimer’s and the likes to spread. Moreover, one does not have to follow an athlete’s training regime to reap such benefits. An individual only has to exercise 3 to 4 times a week for 30 minutes and make it a habit to enhance mental health. This is proof that physical fitness should be aspired for because not only does it keep you physically healthy, it also develops your mentality. SECOND VIDEO: How to Heal a Broken Body and a Broken Spirit | Janine Shepherd | Goalcast https://youtu.be/mNandxK66Ow Reflection: I’ve learned from this video that “I am not my body” and “Our bodies may be limited but it’s our spirit that’s unstoppable.” Permanent injuries or disabilities should prevent from us dreaming because as long we have purpose in life, we have a reason to go on. Our spirit or soul can be defined as the inspiring principle or dominating influence in one’s life thus, as long as I have the spirituality that the speaker exhibits then I can have meaning and direction in life to follow. A chance to build a better me. THIRD VIDEO: Powerful Inspirational true story...Never give up! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kZlXWp6vFdE&feature=youtu.be Reflection: This inspirational story taught me that it’s not about winning, it’s about not giving up. I have seen the runner’s strength in spirit and in character. He didn’t have to win to make more than 6,000 people see it—he had shown it by finishing his run. Therefore, I’ve learned that as long you work hard for your passion, no matter the end result, it’s still worth it because you won’t regret a thing. You may be sad now but that won’t compare to the satisfaction that you did your best. Your hardwork was acknowledged despite not winning. FOURTH VIDEO: Bruce Lee – Train Every Part of Your Body https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TKRQBl8cap4&feature=youtu.be Reflection: Bruce Lee tells us that combative arts can be used to express your emotions in a productive way; specifically, our anger. It’s a technique which aims for mastery of emotions through discipline over our body. Furthermore, he’s fighting prowess is legendary but I am more impressed with his rigid training that he follows to the letter and his mental capacity to learn more even with the immense strength that he already had. In conclusion, he shown me that maintaining physical fitness by practicing discipline—or in his words “training every part of your body”—enhances emotions, mind, and soul. FIFTH VIDEO: A Good Life is Built on Good Relationships / What Makes us Happy and Healthy https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SKK4ePfuqqU Reflection: In summary, a good life is not about wealth, fame, or working harder endlessly to the point of exhaustion. We should spend energy and time in cultivating good relationships because that’s what it takes for a good life, it’s what will keep us happier and healthier. Meaningful social connections and good quality of close relationships are good for our well-being—as it was also mentioned that it prolongs memory in old age. Therefore, no matter how complicated friends and family can be as long as you love them it will be worth it for a good and happy life.
