UDL Lesson Plan The Life Cycle of Butterflies, Day 1 Susana Ibañez Instructor: Professor Julie Sidarous National Louis University Date: August 7, 2022 The Life Cycle of Butterflies, Day 1 This was a science lesson plan where the description of the lesson shows how it would be broken down into two parts, showing what the objective is for the lesson and how this will be achieved. Looking at the description for the day as we are only looking at day 1, the lesson will explore and teach the 4 stages in a life cycle of a butterfly. So, this is where we see the What will be taught, in the UDL lesson. The lesson continues with the state standards that are expected to be met during this lesson. We then go down to seeing the goal for this particular unit and not just the goals, but this is broken down into 3 different goals on how the students will learn and what they will learn with the lesson goals. The lesson goal shows the strategic network to be able to demonstrate in multiple ways. We show the methods in how the lesson will be given and introducing and modeling new knowledge that will be introduced to the students. This shows that we are making sure that there is comprehension of what is being taught in the classroom. The lesson plan goes into showing what the center in which the engagement will look like, and this is providing visuals, as well as manipulatives, writing, and graphic organizers allowing students to work alone or in pairs. All centers will not necessarily apply to all students so the lesson plan states that only two centers will be necessary. The lesson plan wraps up with question to ask to ensure that students comprehended what was being taught, providing the chance for multiple ways to assess students and end of lesson assessment collection. The lesson plan also contains the material that will be accessible for children website, books, video and audio and other resources. This is the ideal UDL lesson plan because it breaks down the representation which is all the materials that are going to be used and the how it will be provided, the actions and expressions of the lesson and the engagement of the students.
