On Demand Air Transportation Project (150 Points)-Due Sunday, December 4th 11:59 CST
The UNO Aviation Institute has been approached by a local business, Mavcorp, looking to begin utilizing
business aviation. Mavcorp has already identified several possible solutions to their transportation
needs, but is still new to business aviation and would like an independent source to provide more
insight. As one of the Aviation Institute’s best and brightest you have been tapped to conduct an
analysis of this company’s on demand air transportation needs and to recommend the best course of
action.
To complete this project you will need to create a document following the format outlined below. As
with other assignments this semester, the use of tables, graphs and illustrations is encouraged when
appropriate. Assume that Mavcorp will select one of the air transportation options provided. The
assignment will consist of the following sections:
Title Page (1 page)
Executive Summary (1 page)- Should summarize the main points of the paper specifically; the
issue addressed, purpose of the project, summary of research, recommendations and
conclusions.. Should not be an introduction to the paper.
- Introduction (Less than 1 page)- Should provide a brief introduction to the paper.
- Analysis Section (3-4 pages)- Provide an overview of each of the methods of on demand air
transportation discussed in class this semester; charter, fractional and ownership. This section
should include the advantages and disadvantages of each method and the general number of
annual flight hours appropriate for each section.
- Recommendation (1-3 pages)- One option from those identified below must be recommended.
Students may supplement their primary option with other secondary options. Mavcorp’s needs
should be addressed in this section, as well as how the recommended option will address those
needs. The number of annual flight hours should be calculated and included to support the
option chosen. Your recommendation should be well supported with the information provided
for the assignment, your external research and class materials.
- Conclusion (1 page)
- References (1 page)- Class material is an acceptable source. However students must include at
least three sources from outside of the class.
The paper should be double spaced and in either Times New Roman, Arial, or Calibri 11 point font. Your
paper should have one inch margins on all sides. Use proper APA in-text and reference citations. The
paper should be written in third person.
On Demand Air Transportation Options for Mavcorp
1. Corporate flight department- Part 91 corporate flight department owned and operated by
Mavcorp
2. Summit Bank- Owns and operates a Challenger 350 and has expressed interest in an interchange
agreement (has not implemented IS-BAO, but is open to exploring the idea). Mavcorp would still
have to purchase and operate an aircraft with this option.

3. Mr Big- Billionaire owner of the Runza and Valentinos restaurant chain. He is looking to split
the cost of owning a private aircraft with another company or individual. He will make the
majority of his trips on the weekend, although he may have a need for an occasional weekday
business trip.
4. Superior Air- Part 135 Charter and Aircraft Management Services (Certified ARG/US Platinum
and adheres to IS-BAO)
5. Jet Connections- Part 91K Fractional Provider (Adheres to IS-BAO)
General Company Information
Mavcorp is a construction and engineering firm with offices and clients spread throughout the U.S. and
Canada. Despite understanding some of the benefits of business aviation, the management of Mavcorp
have no prior experience owning or operating a business aircraft and have reservations about investing
a large sum of money into something they know very little about. However the company has come up
with the following requirements they would like to have fulfilled.
- High degree of control- Mavcorp does anticipate needing the aircraft on short notice on at least
a few occasions a year. Because of this, Mavcorp is placing a high value on having guaranteed
access to an aircraft. Mavcorp would also like some say in how the flight crews are hired,
trained, and how the aircraft are maintained.
- Passenger Loads- Mavcorp would like the ability to transport up to 8 individuals at a time, but
believes their average passenger load will be approximately 2 people per flight.
- Safety is paramount- Crews must be highly trained, professional and the flight department or
organization must meet the highest professional standards.
