BACKGROUND INFORMATION
Water pollution is the contamination of the water source by substances which make the water
usable for drinking, cooking, swimming and other other activites. Pollutants including chemicals,
trash, bacteria and parasites. All forms of pollutants eventually make their way to the water.
Unsafe water kills more people each year than war and all other sources of violence combined.
-
Problem Statement - What are the specific ways through which pollutants enter our
waters.
Research objectives - How water pollution affects the environment.
-
Methodology - In order to complete this research I decided to use questionnaires to
collect data. There are many advantages to using questionnaires. Some of these include
the following
-
It is much easier
It is less time consuming
Data accuracy
Reach people more quickly

Conclusion
Therefore, water pollution is indeed a very serious concern because it not only has an impact on
health but also can have negative effects on various industries and agriculture. It is therefore
highly important to devise methods to reduce the level of water pollution that we are currently
facing.
Recommendations
More public service announcements should be made to inform people to stop disposing of their
garbage in the ocean, gullies, and gutters. Students can encourage people in their
neighborhoods to recycle garbage and make compost heaps.
Reflection
After doing this project, I have learnt about the effects of water pollution. After having done
research, I have learnt that there are many things that I did not know. I have come into contact
with news involving water pollution, but have never thought much about it. However, after
researching, i learnt about all the impacts that an event such as an oil spill can cause, such as how
hard it is to clean up the spill, the high costs the methods of cleanup take, the effects on the
environment, such as destroying the area's marine life, and how it can even affect the livelihood
of fishermen that depend on the are for a living.
