Aim: This poster highlights the dental rehabilitation of a child with Glanzmann’s Thrombasthenia.(GT) Methodology: A 7-year-old boy, known case of GT reported to the VS dental OPD department at Indira Gandhi Institute of Child Health with the chief complaint of bleeding from the gums. Past haematological evaluation reports confirmed the diagnosis of GT. Extraoral examination showed petechiae on the left side of the neck and on the knee. Intraoral examination showed that there was pre shedding mobility with 61 and 72, dental caries with 54, 64, 75, 74, 84, 85. Results: After consultation with the paediatrician, prophylactic antibiotics and platelet transfusion was given prior to the extraction of 61 under local anaesthetic infiltration with 2% lignocaine with 1:100000 adrenaline. Haemostasis was achieved and no significant bleeding was noticed during the hospital stay. The patient was given postoperative instructions and was monitored to assess the healing of the socket. He was recalled for the restoration of the decayed primary molars. Conclusion: In patients with severe bleeding disorders, the challenge is to maintain the haemostatic system and control the bleeding. Taking a thorough medical history, adhering to haemostasis principles, and applying sound clinical judgement together help to ensure that patients with bleeding disorders receive effective dental therapy.
