Maria Vieira-Nibeyro Professor Love New Student Experience 1/25/2023 My “Place” There are many places that Valencia College has to offer that can help someone psychologically and academically. While I haven’t visited Valencia in person, I have visited the Public Safety campus last year since I’m taking criminal justice currently in high school as a Magnet course. The place I have chosen to be my “place” at Valencia is the library. I chose the library because I want to major in psychology and I think that’s the place where I’ll find the most resources for the course, and I also prefer to read in my spare time with the quiet atmosphere. I have also chosen the Fitness and Wellness program because since I’ll be in college with more stress, I’ll be needing something to burn that stress off, such as working out in my spare time since exercise has been proven to release stress. The other key services provided at the West Campus are the academic divisions, library, student development, and counseling services. I think the library will help me pursue my academic goals in being a psychology major because I find the most resources there and I’ve always found comfort in libraries as well. The place at Valencia that surprised me the most was the Art Gallery. I would never think that there would be a place like that at a college, but thinking about it now it could be for the art majors or for people who find comfort in art, such as me.
