1. Job description
- Demonstrate an appropriate level of knowledge for assessment and management
- Know the clinical indications of vasopressor therapy
- Know all the codes
- Be apart of a code as a compressor
- Implement and evaluate the effectiveness of nursing care plan.
- Document the effectiveness of interventions used for care
2. Clinical competencies

Start to have a better focused assessment depending on patients
- Understand what needs to be checked per system
-Perform basic life support for patients in need
-Become for familiar with common medications used in the CVICU
- understand indications, side effects and assessments needed before giving meds
- Become more comfortable with charting system
- understand the tabs at the top of EPIC
- know how to communicate with interdisciplinary team via the EPIC
- understand how the timeline works and how it can be used better manage time
3. Professional organizations

Look at the roles the nurse places outside of being a patient advocate
- Look at how preceptor or other nurse play other roles
4. Leadership/management activities

Manage at a work life balance with a knowledge of signs of burnout
- Have a set morning, and night routine
- Have a consistent workout routine
- Plan out week on notion
- Understand common signs of burnout
- Know personal signs of burnout
- Look for ways to improve the flow of work on the floor
- Find an effective charting method to be time effective
-Prioritize task in terms of importance
- understand how long tasks will take
- Try to attend a meeting of a professional nursing organization or an ethics committee meeting.
5. Collaborative relationships

Give report to a doctor during interdisciplinary rounding with a report that gives vital
updates and indication of what revisions could be made to the patient plan of care.

Give a status update to the provider team with a plan of what I would want from the
doctor.
Be a part of an interdisciplinary meeting and see how management of care is changed
when those meetings happen.
Ask preceptor about area and improvement like skills and demonstrate how to improve

Effective communication of data and information towards interdisciplinary team and
family
- Ask open ended questions
Give a full report to a nurse during a shift change
Talk to the family when giving an update about the patient
Be able to give a detailed effective report at the end of a shift report that lets you give
report without going over 10-15 min per patients.
Come up with or modify a report sheet to take report and give it with.
Provide status update on changes in patient to member of interdisciplinary team.
Explain the indication for medication to family and patient
Communicate the needs of the families to the suitable member of the care team
7. Application of current research

Apply clinical research papers toward nursing skills and practice.
- Read a paper about a topic that is specific to nursing and see how you can
implement it into nursing care.
- Summarize the prevention of complication for ventilator associated pneumonia
- Understand the indication and apply electrolyte infusions.
8. Technical and psychosocial skills

Find and learn any equipment that I am new too or uncomfortable

Learn how to lock the Alaris pumps so other do no change it or silence it without
my knowledge.
Understand and be able to teach back the different mode ventilator settings and the
purpose for them in situations.
