"Getting to Know Flor de May: A Self-Introduction"
My mom would tell me that they got my name from a Philippine Festival every month of May called
“FLORES DE MAYO” A Spanish for “Flowers of May”. Well, it’s unique and cool to be given that name
on the 20th of May 1985. During my formative years, I could still remember that I had “yaya” to look
after me and my brother. As I grow up I wondered why everyone was calling me “Darling” when they
supposed to call me Flor. Only then to find out and realized that it’s a nickname.
The feel of the sun on our skin, the taste of our first ice cream, and the sound of our first laughter are
all memories we will cherish for the rest of our lives. We are constantly learning, growing, and
discovering the world around us as children. We are constantly absorbing information and gaining
new perspectives, whether through play, exploration, or simply observing. Childhood friends hold a
special place in our hearts, and the bonds we form during those formative years are unbreakable. Our
childhood is a time of innocence, adventure, and pure joy that we will always remember fondly.
