Commitment as Predictor of Organizational Citizenship Behavior Among the Faculty and Staff of
Monkayo College of Arts, Sciences and Technology

Purpose of the Study
This study aims to discover the bearing of commitment on organizational citizenship behavior among the faculty
and staff of Monkayo College of Arts, Sciences and Technology

According to the studies of (Jameel et al., 2020 and Karem, Mahmood, Jameel, & Ahmad, 2019) the organizational
commitment represents the characteristics of the collaboration among organizational staff and the firm itself that
influence the retention of their membership in the organization. The more increasing organizational commitment
is, the higher the organizational citizenship behavior of employees is. (Serpian et al., 2016). Improving
organizational commitment resulting from institutional equality provide for workers to contributing and enhance
organizational citizenship behaviors (Moorman, Niehoff, & Organ, 1993). Schermerhorn et al. (2012) describe
OCB as employee’s willingness to go beyond the call of duty or go the extra mile in one’s work.
Meyer & Allen, (1991) stated that organizational commitment is consists of three-dimensions, namely affective
commitment, continuance commitment, and normative commitment. Meyer’s & Allen theory was utilized in the
proposition of Arif Partono et. Al., (2015) and they found out that these three variables was significant to the
organizational commitment among the PLN Distribution Office for Wet Java and Banten.
Organ (1990) divided the OCBs into five categories conscientiousness, altruism, courtesy, sportsmanship, and civic virtue
which is known as Big Five Dimension. Aram H. Massoud et. Al (2020) supported the theory of Organ (1990)
that the Big Five Dimension are significant to the organizational citizenship behavior among their respondents.
